A Classic Must Own Game!

I'm not sure if this review is for the game and it's gameplay itself or for the condition of the item? If it's regarding gameplay, then although graphics (one of the questions asked) are at the processing level of an Xbox 360, they're good for the time period they were made for. It don't think it will upscale to 4K UHD tv if anyone is wondering, as this game isn't backwards compatible with the modern Xbox's (probably due to EA dropping support upon receiving attacks from the VZ government), but they're not that bad either. Back when I began gaming graphics were never that great as they are now anyway, but we just allowed our imagination to fill in the missing details. As far as gameplay, Mercenaries 2 was and still is an awesome game that goes on the tops of my list for games to own. It's filled with action, freedom to do almost anything, and memorable times. I can play it over and over again (after some time has passed since last replay) and it's still good...a classic to play and own in my books. I picked it back up to play again (eventually) as I realize I made a mistake back in the day of selling it to GameStop for trade-in value. I won't be making that mistake again easily. It's an amazing game and I would like to continue to own it! If it looks interesting to you, pick it up and play it! I doubt, unless you're just not the person meant for playing it (and in that case would such a person be checking it out anyway? Not likely.), that you would regret it. Game freezes

I played this game back on 2008 when it came out and I loved it. After digging out my copy from 2008, just to find it keeps freezing. Well, I just recently purchased a used copy. The disc is brand new condition. This disc freezes too. I tried it on my buddies xbox and it freezes on his too. Highly disappointed.Read full review...

A healthy way to get it out of your system

I got this game for my boyfriend's anniversary present. The game caught our eye mostly from that epic commercial (the one with the song). What's great about this game is all of the different obliterating options to choose from. You can call in all kinds of different air strikes, vehicles, weapons, etc. There are also many different jobs you can get with different organizations. Money isn't typically a problem so you can always buy new cars, tanks, bombs, and so on. You can also choose between two other players, not just the norse fellow. The action and testosterone-fueling is great but what brings it down a little bit is that I think the graphics could have been better. With what Xbox 360 can do these days, you just expect more out of that department. But for some that's only a minor draw-back.Read full review...

Mercenaries and stress.

If this game was a book, it would be titled "Stress Relief for Dummies."
Fun game, good interface, it has lots of qualities contributing to its ease of tension. It is effortless to play and the potential for destruction is unrivaled. the health also contributes to the laid-back nature of the game, recharging in a few seconds for one character. the quotes are funny the first, second and maybe third times, but after that get tiring. it also has a good storyline mode, if not much in the way of actual story. the multiple contracts and being able to pit factions against each other is often very funny and contributes to the 'naughty kid with a WMD' feel of the game. I love this game. Explosions galore!!!!

This is one of the most fun games I have ever played. It does have it's problems, which is why I gave it 4 stars. It has a problem where it loads (keep in mind this does not happen the first few times), and tries to connect to EA servers, then freezes and you must shut the XBOX off and start over, without connecting to Xbox Live. It plays just fine offline. Or, you can load the game, then once playing, pause and connect. And also, the cutscene dialogue is the same for all 3 characters, and after the 1st time it gets cheesy.

With that out of the way, this game has incredible strongpoints.
-Detailed scenery looks wonderful in HD.
-Huge area to explore, in a factual country (Venezuela), even before unlocking it all
-Awesome weaponry from different factions
-you can destroy just about anything
-wide range of cool vehicles (helicopter gunships to muscle cars to sports cars and bikes)

If you love action, get this game, it won't let you down. I also recommend the Saboteur, from EA/Pandemic.Read full review...

BOOM BOOM, FUN FUN!

PROS:
Lots of blowing up stuff
Insane action!
Easy Co-OP Options makes it one of the best 2 players games
"Kind of" funny scenes, accents and fashion styles
Its fun!

CONS:
In time some may get tired of the "Blow Everything Up!" formula
Repetitive dialog
You got to search a bit to get the big guns

Overall thoughts:
This game is for people who like to BLOW THINGS UP! Single-player-wise its an OK/good game. But playing with a friend on coop or online its just PURE FUN!
Maybe its a bit expensive right now, but if you want to have a really fun experience with a friend you got to buy this game!

I was piloting a helicopter and I picked up a military tank with my friend in it! We flew over the enemy base and bomb dropped the tank right in the middle of the facility, and started destroying the whole thing by Air and land.Read full review...

A lot of boom, but not much variety.

This game is just very straight to the point, blow it up and move on action. I've been playing it for several days now when I have the chance and the only problems I really find with it is simple repetetive stuff. It is fun blowing things up over and over again, but it really starts to lose its shock and awe after you've done it for a few hours straight. The missions really don't seem to have a lot of variety to them. It's a different mission with you pretty much doing the same thing. See a whole bunch of bad guys, blow 'em up maybe protect a person here or there, and you're done. I know, that maybe the case in so many other games, but in this one it just really seems to lack in depth as far as any story goes or being able to keep yoiu interested. The game itself is a bit buggy in parts, but is easy to look past, unless you get bothered by such a thing. Overall, I've been pretty satisfied with this game, when I'm kind of tired of everything else I can just pop it in, wipe some people out, and be on my way.Read full review...

Great Action Game!

I like the grit feel of the game and the action. You decide whether who you will ally with. You can even make enemies of factions then win them over by completing contracts with them. I'm disappointed that the game doesn't have split screen co-op or system link co-op. To play with another person, you have to go onto Xbox live. This makes the difference between a good game and an excellent game. One glitch in the game is how civilians and vehicles abruptly appear and disappear. I was in a high-speed boat on a mission and all of a sudden a big tanker ship appeared about 50 meters in front of me! I couldn't manuever in time to avoid a collision. But, overall, the game is very good, action-packed and you can decide the direction of the game.Read full review...

Overall Good Game

Fun Game To play, explosions and physics are awesome!!
The one thin I dislike about it is the fact that you can't change camera views. I want it to be first person OR third person. The Camera doesn't rotate with the character which takes a little getting used to but that is something I wish it did... Overall the game is pretty good some glitches in between large rocks... You'll start to swim and sometimes it's hard to get out... ;)Also if your vhicle explodes, you rag doll like crazy, your legs go over your head un-naturally and your head spins around like crazy...

All around bash that's a the best "Kaboom" for your buck!

Gameplay is reminiscent of "Grand Theft Auto." This is a super fun, shoot up, complete missions for cash all around bash that's the best "Kaboom" for your buck. One disappointment is that your Merc will not be an expert marksman. Totally understand that holding down the trigger on an automatic weapon will affect accuracy. However, single shots should always be on target. In this game, 9 times out of 10, trigger discipline is not rewarded with center mass kill shots. That said - Mercenaries 2 is super enjoyable. (SPOILER ALERT = Wanna make endless FREE in-game cash for your character? Once you recruit a helicopter pilot, which happens rather early in the game, max bet him on his challenges for helo training. Mercenaries 2 WIF play again and again

Mercenaries 2 is a game of exploration and combat. We own 2 copies. It is a good team game. 2 players do have to stay within a certain distance to one another but you would be surprised how far apart that distance is. Drive cars, motorcycles, tanks, boats jet-skis and helicopters. Command airstrikes, pick-ups and resource drops. Blow-up Everything! Just don't run over civilians, you don't go to jail but the fines are hefty. Save your team-mate in time and you don't have to start the mission over. We bought this second copy so we could play this game together on xbox live. He runs in for the kills I wander around find money, fuel, bomb runs and hidden parts for vehicles. I stay close by to revive him when he goes down. We can attack objectives from 2 sides and finish the objective quickly. Keep in mind which factions are your friends and which are your enemies.
