Microsoft Zune 30GB MP3 Player
I bought this for a gift, in replacement of a stolen Ipod. We love the fact that you can put any music on it, and not held to Itunes. I has many other features that make it easy to operate and fun to play with. It is a little heavier than Ipod, but it looks much nicer. Quality of sound and capabilities is great. If there is one thing I can say it a dislike, would be it does not allow you to download saved Itunes, which if you have already bought them, you should own them and now be restricted to downloading them on another system.Read full review...
Great Ipod alternative
I decided to give Zunes a try after my 8th ipod had broken and the fact that this was half the price. I have had this product for about 2 weeks and this is what I have found.
Pros:
-Much easier to hold than my old ipod video, I guess I have small hands or something because it was extremely hard for me to hold my ipod, I have yet to have this issue with my Zune even though it is larger.
-Screen is larger making it easier to read, I showed it to my mother who is in her 50s and she could read the screen perfectly and it displays album artwork beautifully.
-Menus are easy to navigate, once you start using the Zune it is easy to navigate your way through the menus to get to your music.
Cons:
-The actual Zune does not recognize East Asian characters, but the Zune software for the computer. This is an issue because I have a lot of Japanese and Korean music and cannot tell them apart on my Zune because it has boxes instead of the characters and the only thing I can find to solve this is a software crack.
-You cannot read the screen with the backlight off, I usually do not like using the backlight on mp3 players because it saves batteries, but on this one it is mandatory to be able to see the screen. The ipod you did not need the backlight on if you had decent lighting.
This is a great ipod alternative because of the cost and ease of use. I wouldn't recommended it for someone who has bought a lot of their music via the itunes store because you will not be able to use it unless you burn it all to a CD and reload it.Read full review...
Zune 30GB Media Player
When I decided to get a new mp3 player, I wanted to make sure that it last for a long time and large enough to hold all my songs, stories, and videos. For once, I made the right choice. First of all, 30GB is just enough space to hold all my media files plus plenty of room to hold more in the future. Second, the program is easy to use and able to organize my media files for easy access. Third, the games that comes with the player are fun to play. The player is easy to charge, at home or in the car, I listen to it everywhere I go. There are only 2 minor things about this player. First, the headphones, don't use them. They're cheap and quality is not good, but you can a nice set of headphones without spending a fortune. Second, a couple of times my machine that locked up and shut off and I was unable to turn it back on. I'm sure it was something I did to cause it to shut off, like pushing too many buttons at the time, oops. The book does not tell you how to reset the machine. I went on-line and couldn't found out there either. However, when I called the automated customer service number, I had my doubts. But for the first time, an automated call actually helped me. The woman tells you how to reset the machine (hold down the back arrow key and up on the select button together) and the machine will reset. Other than that I love my machine and would recommend it to anyone. I score it 10 out of 10. I have heard stories about the battery problems, but I have had NO problems with the battery. Microsoft Zune 30 Gig MP3 player
I bought this MP3 player for my 10 year old daughter for Christmas. I'm using the unit in advance to see how it works. The player is easy to use and works well with Microsoft Marketplace. The unit is a little big in size but does hold 30 gigs which is more than enough for me let alone a young child. I like the fact that it comes in different colors. Zune is pretty in Pink!
This is the best MP3 player I've ever used. It's simply amazing. I love the design on it. This thing is scratch proof! You can strike a key to it and it wont leave a mark! The device itself is just pure silicon goodness. I wouldnt trade it for any other MP3 player. The screen it just beautiful. The color is just amazing, so is the clarity. I just cant stop talking about the design. I got the pink one, but I also love the brown and white one. If it wasnt for the pink one being limited edition, I would have bought the brown one. But I love this one more. Beautiful Microsoft, just awesome. Though I dont like the black one much..
Now, the software...not the best experience ever. But still fairly decent. Not much to complaing about. It could have been better. But I'm sure that it will be with a couple of updates.

Zune 30 is Actually Very Dependable
The Pink Zune 30g is one of the infamous Microsoft mp3 models which experienced total memory wipe end of 2008/start of 2009, due to software glitch. However, the no-cost fix is to totally drain the battery, recharge, and reboot by re-synching the music in your collection. I bought it for my wife because she needed an upgrade from a 4 gb unit, and it turns out the Sudoku game is her favorite gizmo on the package! The screen size is great, control pad and buttons easy to use. There are plenty of sleeves and shells on the market to customize with. I have a red Zune 30g myself, and I feel really confident that the excellent rating is justified -- it keeps a charge four about four hours of continuous play, and the only feature it might benefit from is a full-access web browser, although it does connect to the Zune marketplace (dedicated browser). On the other hand, the Zune is a great escape from the outside world. Recommended!Read full review...
Hail zune 30!
My favorite attribute of the 30GB model zune would have to be the casing on it. It leaves no finger prints, no scratches, and no annoying smudges. Ipods are wrecked with this problem. Software is easy to navigate and the zune marketplace is a great alternative to iTunes. I have more freedom with zune than I do ipods because I can share music wirelessly with fellow zune owners. The purchase via radio is another great use of the zunes wireless capabilities, as well as wireless sync with my pc. I would reccomend this product to everyone even ipod owners, because this is a sturdy product (dropped it twice already from over four feet off the ground) and a great buy too. Video resolution is clean and crisp, EQ settings make the zune great for any genre of music. Even though the zune80 and zune120 are out, I plan to stick with this model because the backs of the new zunes are a type of brush metal, which will bare scratches, just not fingerprints. Microsoft Zune 30 Pink (30 GB) Digital Media Player
This is great if u like to take your favorite music, video, picture, and game collections on the road with you. Excellent portability, due to the size which is similar in size to a cell phone. My favorite features are the radio and music collection apps. Easy to use the setup media on a pc or laptop. Would definitely recommend if you want a product that's not made by Apple Corp. My only issue is the battery life which might be 48 hours on stand by. But the USB port charger plug makes convient use of a laptop, desk top, or Xbox 360 USB ports for charging up the Zune.Read full review...
Zune 30 GB Pink
My daughter wanted this for Christmas and she absolutly loves it. I am impressed with the image quality - the pictures are amazing. What we like about it - you can share music, you can listen to the radio, you can download your music and create playlists, screen size, ease of use. This has a lot of nice options. A zune is a good choice.
I recently bought my wife a pink 30gb. Sadly, because this was a limited run from the first generation I had to buy used. However, i recieved a flawless zune and was pleased. It plays music, video, and pictures with a very nice sized screen and does not feel outdated at all, it is larger than most current mp3 players.
It is true that 90%+ of accessories are made for the ipod and that at major retail stores you are not going to find much in the way of zune products.
BUT, zunepass trumps this minor setback. For $15 a month I have access to all of zune's music store.I can download 40,000 songs if I want and not pay more than the $15. This is kind of like renting the songs. But, this is another bonus. You get to permanently keep any 10 songs per month. That is worth $10, so therefore you are basically buying 1 cd and paying $5 a month to rent 1000 more. You can also link up to 3 zunes per account and share the zunepass.
Apple makes a good product, but I feel that the lack of a similar setup really hurts iTunes.
Couldn't be happier with my purchase and I am looking at buying a zune for myself right now.Read full review...
