"For the Money, expended", a Decent Beginner GPS unit

The Motonav TN20 is my first GPS, purchased for a recently completed NYC to Seattle & back, cross-country vacation.
The "Motonav Car Charger Power cord" supplied, was "Absolute Garbage!!!", the dried out cord breaking every time that it was touched during the very first hours of use... Luckily I had a Motorola Phone car charger w/me that worked, but comes up with a message, when used, about extended battery charging time, but worked fine, to power and charge the TN20.
The unit, several times saved me from getting off track, on my main routes, but equally tried to kill me several times, by directing me down "dirt paths and private roads" that the TN20 thought were actual roads, but weren't, all in all, providing for some very entertaining & potentially dangerous segues, on the trip.
All in all,a great trip, assisted by the sometimes very psychotic Motonav TN20.

A GPS at a Great Price. Seriously.

I was actually looking for an inexpensive Tom Tom (or Garmin) for myself after getting a great deal on one here on EBay for my wife. It was only by happenstance I noticed that my local Radio Shack was selling out the TN20's at a clearence price (somehow they just ran out of them, hmmm). I had not realized that Motorola even made a stand-alone GPS unit. The TN20 is considered a starter model but I have to say it has plenty of enough features to suit my needs. It's compact size makes it easy to pocket and take with you. The TN20's non-glare screen makes it easy to view at nearly any angle. The mounting bracket is easy to use and compact enough to mininalize any obstruction of your forward view. The touch screen is easy to use but sometimes you need to press carefully to get the right input onto the screen. The graphics are clear and easy to read and can be set your liking (like 2D/3D views). It has an external speaker with voice output that is clear to understand. The USB port can connect to your computer for software updates. The TN20 also has an SD card slot for added features and storeage. I find this Motorola device to be an excellent choice and alternative to the more expensive Garmin and Tom Tom units on the market.Read full review...

Great Price! But in the end you get what you pay for....

This is a great device for its price point. But in the end you get what you pay for. I may be saying this because I was spoiled by my old TomTom but this device is good and has its own features that make it a good experience to use.

Pros:

Small
Light weight
Comes with car mount
Touch Screen seems very responsive
Sound is great in terms of turn by turn
Fast route recalculation

Cons:
It dose not show all street names as you are passing them
Graphics are just pain ugly
The turn by turn voice is horrible
Needs to give the driver more warning before a turn is coming up
Shouldn't have to hold down the power button so long just to turn it on and off.
Missing a lot of features that you get with other GPS devices (Again you get what you pay for.)

Overall it is a great GPS for the price if you want a simple design and ease of use.

Good Navi System for a first time buy/Greatly priced

I bought this as a simple GPS for my mother and its very easy to use for her. The screen is visable, it doesnt have too many problems with finding our locations and every feature works.
For the price it was great.

Narrator's accent is a little heavy (She mispronounces streets, but it gives for a good giggle).

Rain throws it off sometimes but its quick to recalculate.

Features not found on other gps

The feature I wondered why my Magellon did not have is, the current "Speed Limit" a great feature for little speed trap towns. It will also notify you if you are driving over the speed limit if you want to use that setting. Another cool feature is after you put in an address you can take a tour of the route before you ever leave your home. I bought a couple of these and am very satisfied. I recommend it.Read full review...

Motorola MOTONAV TN20 GPS

I'm an electronics technician, therefore, most of my electronic equipment that I use is made by Motorola. It is really amazing how much this device does in such a small package. It has automatic night and day illumination. The 3D feature does not display many road names so I usually keep it on 2D. The main reason I bought this is so in the event I need to report an emergency or DUI and need to know where I am exactly. This device gets lost when I get away from the public street or back into my driveway. The map needs to be updated and I haven't learned how to do that yet. It is really cool and I'm glad I bought it!Read full review...

So far so good. Litle small, o/w really great screen v

I really like this GPS, I have used others but never owned one before
It gives me spot on directions and has re-routed after I mad a dif turn than the GPS directed. The screen is a bit small but for the cost it is still a great little GPS. If you put it in 3D at night the picture is CLEAR and easy to see.
The Voice is as loud as you want it. So I just turn down the radio and listen to the Motorola Montov TN20 and Viola I'm there. I like that it tells you what lane to be in on the Freeway when you are changing Interstates or just exiting .
All and all I got the better end of the deal, thanks EBay.

Just what I needed for my trips

Arrived early and packaged great. This unit is so easy to use and provides everything I need for my trips. The price was great, alto I was leary of refurbished items. This is my first try at such and hopefully will turn out well. My first big trip will be next week and I can try it then. Touch window is touchy, which I like. My old one I had to smack three times.Read full review...

MOTOROLA MOTONAV TN 20 GPS

I was interested in that item because Motorola has always been one of the best company in the market. When I saw that particular item, I thought it should be good and I did not think twice about of getting it. As a first timer, I checked it, started playing with it to get the hang of it and I do like it.The reason I bought it is every time I went out with my wife, we both are getting confused on which way to go from point A to point B and sometimes, from point B to A. I like to travel a lot so I needed that GPS so bad. Now, I have a piece of mind that we won't get loss anymore. The only thing I don't like with it it is a little bit heavy. Knowing Motorola, They always build their stuff with confidence and some good materials. It is not a surprise to see its heaviness. good job Motorola.Read full review...

Motorola Motonav TN20 Automotive GPS Reciever

I purchased this G.P.S. System because i get lost very easily. I seen this one and thought it was a great price for something I really need. I won it, I received it,
and then i read the directions and attempted to put it to use, that when everything went wrong. I can't get this thing to guide me to my front door never the less to somewhere I have never traveled before. Complete waste of money, and I thought Motorola Great name, well they may have a great name but they cannot make G.P.S. that work at all.Read full review...
