Murder in Mississippi (2008) DVD Updating my review

My earlier review of this movie is in error. I was confusing this program with an EXCELLENT TV miniseries, "Attack On Terror, the FBI Vs The Ku Klux Klan" This was the program shown over two nights for a total airing time of 4 hours, minus commercials made it 3 hours and 11 minutes. This program starred a VERY YOUNG Peter Strauss, in the role portrayed by Tom Hulce in this movie, and also used William Conrad (Cannon) as the narrator. The story related in this program is a much better portrayal of the incidents in Mississippi in 1964, and was first aired in the early 1970's. Therefore, I am changing my rating from a 1 star to 3 stars, and if I was reviewing "Attack On Terror", I would rate it 5 stars!!!!
PREVIOUS REVIEW-I remember when this TV miniseries was originally broadcast over TWO Nights, meaning the program was originally THREE HOURS long. This DVD is only ONE HOUR AND THIRTY-SEVEN minutes long! Which means only HALF the program is included! It is so choppy, that it is difficult to follow. VERY DISAPPOINTING!!!!! The manufacturer of this dvd needs to reissue it in its FULL LENGTH!
No where in the main description is ther any indication of length, this needs to be included so buyers are aware that it is only HALF the original program.

Powerful and sad, one man can make a difference.

I watched this movie many years ago and purchased it on VHS, I loaned it to someone and never got it back, I have been looking for it ever since. I was so happy to find it again. It is a powerful recollection of a very important part of history. I think it should be compulsary veiwing for high school students, I don't think kids of today realise what others went through to allow them the luxuries they have now. I would recommend this movie to everyone, in fact I have recommended it to all of my friends.Read full review...

For Young and Old

As far as I'm concerned, this is a classic film: great actors, compelling plot. It allows we who lived through this era and those who are younger to appreciate the struggle for civil rights in the United States. I believe it helps us recall why prejudice and discrimination must be eradicated from our society.Read full review...
