Quite the discovery
I watched this movie for a Film History class and wanted it right away, since it was taken out of circulation I was glad to find it here. It is a really moving film about young love, class differences, and race in Thatcherite England. Daniel Day Louis is astounding, and steals the show with effortless appeal. This is the early work of Stephen Frears(High Fidelity) and shows his ultamite potential. The movie is clearly an 80s movie, with music and clothes to match, so keep that in mind, and appreciate the writing which is what makes this movie great. Worth seeing
The movie is well-acted and the sets are very good. However, there are no heroes among the film's characters, but perhaps that makes it more real.
