How could it match the movie!

I didn't expect it to be as good as the movie, but I didn't expect such lame plot lines that contradicted the movie. In the movie, her husband accepts her family, and house next door cheerfully. In the series, they don't have the house next door, and they don't want a free house, and fight over it. Other ridiculous plot lines too, like her not wanting to inherit the restaurant!, who wouldn't want a free restaurant, sell it, take the money if you don't want it! They should have had better writing, because the original cast was there, they just needed better stories. Also, if they had the original husband, I'm pretty confident it would have succeeded somehow, even though I didn't like him on sex and the city, he was pure gold in the movie! The movie was about love and acceptance, and the series is about dislike, and rejection. A shining star in this is the orignal actors are so superb, that they still shine through at times, because their talent and total oneness with the characters cannot be totally destroyed by lame plot lines. Overall, I did enjoy it because the moview was just so damn good, you want more, and here is more! I would love a sequel to the movie with the total original cast, and a story line with more heart and less hate, like the original.Read full review...

My Big Fate Greek Sitcom

It's too bad this series didn't last long, because it was funny...at least Sitcom Funny. The Original Movie was a Romantic Drama-with a little bit of humor in it. Had they created a TV Series with episodes a hour long with the same Romantic Drama with Humor theme then the Series would have been more successful.

This series is only 30 minute episodes that are Sitcoms. Not bad, but not necessarily what you would expect if you say the Movie.Read full review...

my big fat greek life series

i loved the movie and remembered the series when it was on tv but it fizzled out after 7 episodes.. but the dvd series is good and i am enjoying it greatly!

Very entertaining.

Quite hilarious. A continuation of the
original movie. Too bad the series didn't last longer.
I think it would have been more successful if their episodes
took place in other locations, rather than either the restaurant or
