Title describes book well.

Bill Wilson really comes off the page with this book. He isn't described as some icon, but as a human being with faults and serious problems in addition to his alcoholism.
I bought the book because I like Susan Cheever as an author (as I liked her father, John) and because the topic is important to me as someone connected to recovery.
Compared to the made-for-TV movie, the book is more multi-dimensional -- the movie portrayed Bill are a pretty nice guy. Bill was a difficult man on a good day, and Susan Cheever really captures that.
