My son loves this!

We have Nintendo game systems and have resisted buying certain other game systems because so much of the game selection is ultra-violent first-person shooter games, and we don't think that's healthy. (Our opinion--nothing we're forcing on others.) Unfortunately, the Wii and Wii-U don't have many good sports games. Years ago, my husband received an Xbox as a gift, which was largely unused. We've started buying the "vintage" Xbox EA Sports games for our 10 year old, who's a rabid sports fan. We were concerned that this might be disappointing to him, but he LOVES it. Plays well, disc was nice and clean. Our only complaint was that, as this was a gift, we had to spend a lot of time removing fragments of old price tags to make it look reasonable enough for presentation. That was made up for by the free shipping. There are some mis-prounounced player names and rather generic commentator lines, but we find these things to be hilarious. In some funny way, it adds to the experience.Read full review...

NHL 07 maybe TOO good?

I've played 20+ games of NHL 07 now before forming an opinion. I played the first bunch in the MEDIUM skill level, then tried the hardest. The hardest level is nearly impossible, as the computer player dumps the puck down the ice and always beats you to it to get an easy scoring chance. At Medium the game is more enjoyable, but the controls still need improvement.

Using the right thumbstick for faceoffs is ok, but for passing, it's miserable at best. Your best bet, in MY mind is to change your settings and well, I use Y for checking, B for passing, A for slap shots and X for wrist shots. I don't remember the defaults offhand.

Getting your goaltender a shutout is really tough. The best I've had is 2 games with 2 goals given up, otherwise my scores have been 8-5 type games, though one I actually won 20-10. That's more a MADDEN score than an NHL score.

Xbox - NHL 07 - pretty nice

The game was very good... but there were some drawbacks. The biggest drawback for me was the similarity between NHL '06 and '07. 95% of the dialogue is exactly the same, cut scenes in between plays, and the menus are practically identical. I also didn't like the default controls (although they were easy to change). Ok now for the good stuff. The graphics and player faces are pretty good. The gameplay is as good as ever. Basically, if you have ever played an EA Hockey game in the past 4 years, its pretty much the same thing. Not much has changed. That being said, it is very enjoyable and fun to play.Read full review...

NHL 07

Aright there isn't much to say since most people have probably played previous versions of NHL, but here it goes!

Pros: It actually takes skill to score a goal in NHL 07. No more swirling, twisting, unrealistic shots that always beat the goalie. The stick is so fluid and since you control whether the player brings the puck left or right, you can deke out players and the goalie. All in all, NHL 07 improves the actual gameplay of hockey along with better graphics, unlike previous versions that only mildly improved graphics.

Cons: This version of the skill stick smacks of "me too!" desperation; gameplay, graphics, sound, and just about everything else are practically unaltered from last year's game; it's got a roster update, but it isn't an especially accurate one.

NHL 07

Overall, its a nice value purchase, not too expensive and its a good game. The announcers are very annoying at time when your down by a goal or two, but the skating portion/ graphics presentation was the best part of the game. Another negative would have to be lack of effort from the goalies. They dont really "save" the puck, but rather let it bounce off of them and clear it away. Overall, its a very good game, minus the goalie and the announcers being really really annoying.Read full review...

NHL 07 Xbox

I was skeptical to play an EA hockey game because I liked the graphics of the 2K games better than the early EA hockey games for Xbox. In my opinion, this is an outstanding game. I really like the way the passing has been changed, and the camera angle is great! This game is worth more than you'll find it for on eBay!Read full review...

The rarest Xbaox game so far

I loved the game, but since my Step Son rented it, and then lent it to a friend. Well, yeah, I was forced to hunt the game down to return it to the video store. This game is one of the hardest things I had to locate next to Big Foot.

Other than that, this game was pretty damn good as far as game play, and available options to customizing your season, and team.

Excellent hockey game

Perhaps the best hockey game built for the Xbox console - made by the masters at EA Sports. Good action, realistic goaltending (can't just pump one timers and expect to score), nice puck movement and stick handling.

Overall, a fun game to play.
