Good Low Carb Bread Recipes Use Psyllium Powder - Great for Diabetics
We made low carb bread using the psyllium husk powder. This is finely ground andt is high fiber and low carb, for people who must limit carbohydrate intake and need the fiber too. The bread got rave reviews as a sandwich bread at my house, because it tastes good and looks like a hamburger roll, split in two with a knife. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Using just 1 1/4 cups of almond flour, 2 tablespoons of psyllium powder, 1 teaspoon salt, and 2 teaspoons of baking powder - blend in a bowl. In a small pan, add 1 1/4 cups of water, 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar, boil, remove from heat and add to a bowl with 3 egg whites. Add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients, and blend until it swells - about 1 minute stirring time. Pinch off 5 equal pieces and bake in 350 oven for 50 minutes on parchment paper. The bread is done when it sounds hollow as you tap it. You can add other seeds, like sesame seeds, or even other grains. But we enjoyed this a lot and I'll be ordering it again. Dont Buy The "Powder" Version
Go for the same brand but the "whole" version....this powdered kind doesn't mix at all. This one turns into a plaster like substance on the roof of your mouth and makes my stomach hurt.

Psyllium husk isn't really for constipation, it's for maintenance. If your diet is low in fiber, a heaping spoonful of this every day, in a glass of water, will keep you regular.
