Review - Naruto: Clash of Ninja Revolution (Wii)

Easy to pick up

Plenty of recognizable Naruto characters

Loads of control options

Keeping with series standards, the action in Revolution is fast and simple, though still fairly evocative of the confrontations you might actually see in Naruto. You've got a strong and a weak attack that you can mix up for attack combos, and you can perform a basic throw. Incoming attacks can be blocked or dodged, and a well-timed dodge will trigger your substitution jutsu, which causes you to immediately appear on the other side of your opponent, giving you the drop on them. You'll build up chakra--the magical ninja energy that powers the fighters in the world of Naruto--as you both give and receive damage, and once you build up enough chakra, you can unleash one of your character's special jutsu attacks--big, cinematic attacks that usually shave off a good portion of your opponent's health.

There are 20 different characters in Clash of Ninja Revolution that you can unlock and play with, which is coincidental, as that's how many different control schemes there are to choose from. OK, that's a bit of hyperbole, but with five different control schemes, there are still a lot to choose from. The default controls use the Wii Remote and the Nunchuk and have you waggling the control to perform weak attacks, and pressing the A button for strong attacks. There's also an alternate control scheme for the remote-and-nunchuk setup. The big difference is that rather than waggling the remote, you press down on the D pad to perform weak attacks. When you're playing with either of these control schemes, there's a little interactivity during your jutsu attacks. You'll be prompted at specific points to move the nunchuk and/or the remote in a specific fashion, and if done correctly your jutsu attack will do more damage. That the defending player can't do anything here to mitigate damage makes this system unbalanced, and with the little diagrams it's not always clear what kind of gesture you're being prompted for.

If you're short on Nunchuks, the game can be played with just the Wii Remote held sideways, which works surprisingly well, and the game also supports the Classic Controller and the GameCube controller

Great for kids and huge Naruto fans howver!

This is a must buy for Naruto fans!

Wii Naruto seems almost like a recycled version of Naruto titles released on older platforms (PS2 ect). The revolutionary Wii game controllers, however, bring this game to new levels.

My 13-year-old daughter, who is an “advanced game player,” remains absolutely thrilled about this game. The action packed game play of this storyline remains fast paced and relatively simple. My 8-year-old daughter is able to play Clash of the Ninja Revolution and she gains added levels of ability everyday.

So, in summary, this game is challenging enough for an advanced gamer and yet painless enough for the beginners. Hard core gamers should steer clear of this game as you will not be impressed with the similarities between Naruto:Revolution and the previously released titles. However, this game is a must for Wii enthusiasts and Naruto fans alike.

Kids love the game

Kids really wanted this game: introduced to Naruto through trading cards, friends and online game. Although my 2 boys don't understand English, the game is simple enough to learn without understanding the English interface and characters are faithful to trading cards and tv show.
Brothers aged 8 and 10 can play cooperatively which is a godsend: no bickering between otherwise competitive boys. Toned down / simulated violence makes it acceptable to parents. Fantasy is played up so as not to encourage any agressive behavior on the part of impressionable kids.
Kids are loving it! Great for those rainy days.

It Keeps Him Entertained

My son has wanted this game for a while now. We finally bought it for him and he seemed pleased. After he played for a while and learned the moves, both he and his little brother literally played the entire day. That should tell you how much they enjoyed the game. I don't play Naruto on the Wii but my son tells me that the new Wii controlled version of the game is far better than the Gamecube Naruto games that he has had in the past. So we say it gets 2 thumbs up!!Read full review...

kids really love this game!

i really think that what makes this game excellent and not just a good fighting game is that the kids are fans of the show. they know the storyline and the plot of the show. they really love that they can make the characters perform their specials just like they do on the show. i was impressed with the time and effort that was placed in making this so true to the anime. it is very well done and there were smiles at all the nice touches in every challenge. and for me the tutorial is first rate it showed me how to fight as i am a 1st timer in the naruto world.Read full review...

A really cool game!!! :)

I really like this game, and Naruto is one of my favorite anime shows. It's so cool how you can actually fight the different characters using them as well. It has many awesome features, including a multiplayer section. Me and my friend were playing this and had a blast! Also, using the characters' different jutsu is really cool, too.Read full review...

Clash of Ninja Revolution (Wii)

Ive played previous naruto games, I must say the graphics are excellent and this games got a nice cast of characters true to the anime, mission mode is fun and 4 players can fight simultaniously very kool. some characters have two different types of special signature moves. I didnt think it would be as kool as it is, until I actually played it. I highly recommend it to naruto fans, plus they did an awsome job with english language US Version.
Dont take my word for it try it out.
