Upgraded from a Genin to a Chunin...

I've been a Naruto fan ever since his appearance in Japan, including his travel stateside. But one thing I've never been a fan of has been the Naruto video games. I've played them all, but cared for none. I was a little hesitant to buy Ultimate Ninja Storm, even after seeing the jaw-dropping trailer for it. I finally found a great deal on Ebay, and from opening cinema to closing credits, I was impressed. The action handles much better than the previous games, and the fast-paced fights can span an entire stage, yet you never lose yourself. The graphics are definitely next-gen,and the special attacks are amazing, but the game still has its downside. I didn't appreciate having to run around the village taking on mundane tasks just to get to the next chapter in the story; if this had been included, but NOT necessary to advance the story, the game would have been much better. I don't remember Naruto taking a break from finding Sasuke to go play hide and seek with Konohamaru & co. back in the Leaf Village or running around breaking down doors of hard-working Konoha citizens for ramen ingredients. And why does every game feel obligated to stop after the Chasing Sasuke Arc? I know the rest afterwards up until Shippuuden was filler, but they could still add SOMETHING more, even if it is more filler. But since those are just about the only complaints I can think of compared to the paragraphs I could write about the previous entries, I guess the Naruto game series has upgraded to being a Chunin in my bingo book, but it still has a long way to go before it can become a Jounin.Read full review...

Amazing!

I only recently started playing this awesome game, and I'm very pleased.

I have to admit that while I love Naruto nontheless, what I haven't tolerated was the awful english voice-overs and thus, I steered clear of all Naruto games that was released in the U.S.

This game has the original option of the Japanese voices and give you an option of subtitles. That itself already turned me into quite a happy camper.

You can travel and jump around Konoha! You accept missions from random people, and unlock points for the storyline missions. This game is pretty fun, and the neat graphics are a plus.

Its music and sounds remain similiar to the anime.

The controls take a while to get used to, and I wished there were more combos with less amount of buttons, but the fight scenes are pretty awesome. For an elite gamer, the controls wouldn't hinder them.

On whole, I'd give the game 4 out of 5 stars.

Impresive visuals, shallow combat

I became a big fan of Naruto when i watched the first episode of the series in 2007. Since then i noticed that a lot of merchandising came up with this hit series. a lot of it where video games. As a gamer, i Know that 99% of the time an anime franchise is ported to a video game franchise, the latter will be a bad one. I like so much this series that i decided to break my own rule and bought this game. Although it wasn't a bad game it didn't live up to my expectations. As a game, it's too shalow the combat mechanics are very simple, wich is good, but this aspect wasn't developed enough to add depth into combat, making you feel you're playing the same way even if you change characters. This, being a fighting game, is a core issue.
Other issues are loading times, wich are too long, and the missions and other stuff you can do in leaf village. This missions aren't always entertaining and might become boring but necessary to continue with the game.
Having said that, some strong points of this game are it's visuals and boss fights. Visuals are stunning. they feel almost like your're watching the actual anime. Fights capture the spirit of the series and navigating through leaf village is a bliss.
Boss fights might be the best moments in the game because they reproduce very well key moments of the story combined with combat and quick time events, showing you ALWAYS spectacular moves and techniques. This moments are so great that they actually give me goosbump of excitement.
In the end, i can't say that Naruto Ultimete Ninja Storm is the game i was looking for, but with all it's pros and cons togeather makes it a good game as a whole. I'd recomend it only to fans of the series.

Great Game !

This game is very good, it has very good graphics and i myself would recommend getting this game. The ultimate moves are breathtaking and the fighting method is very simple, there are no hard moves and you can maneuver around very good. The story mode is very good in the game, giant battles, normal battles, etc, it kinda looks just like the naruto series, you can find that on cartoon network or browsing the internet. When i first played this it was the demo and i thought it was just like ultimate ninja 1,2,and 3, then when i figured out how to do everything i was very amazed at how well the game was made, and i got the whole game and i started playing it all day and all night trying to get 100% and every once in a while the playstation store gives out the naruto ultimate ninja storm add on pack for free and every time one comes out ill go get it and see what the mission is and the new support character that comes along with it, me as a naruto fan i challenge myself to see if i have what it takes, simply by putting the com difficulty level at its maximum level, sometimes its very challenging and other times its like they are on normal.im not gonna make this very long so ill end it here, to any and all who havent played this game, you guys/girls are missing out on some amazing stuff i mean its out in stores even if your not into fighting games i still recommend you buy this game,Naruto Ultimate Ninja Storm, Beleive It!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Read full review...

Nice graphics, somewhat casual fighting game with a storyline.

Being a fan of the anime series and having seen the trailers for it I decided to get it. The graphics are very nice and look just like the show. Comprises of running around the village collecting items and talking to NPCs between the fighting. Fighting is fairly straight forward, with a series of buttons needed to be hit for big moves. Large areas to move around in while fighting is a nice change. Most of the conversations with NPCs are text only but most the main storyline has voice dubbing from the same people who did the anime series.

If you like the anime and aren't looking for a hardcore fighter game then I'd recommend it to you.

worth every cent!

the game itself is not much more than a rerun of the previous Naruto games to the PS2, since PS2 is gone, the company took all the previous games (from the first serie) and mashed it together into this, and the result is surpringly good. i do miss some characters, and the camera in the mission-mode is slower than a snail. but the new fighting system where you can run around EVERYWHERE, even on walls, in full 3D view instead of the normal platform look, so freakin great!Read full review...
