good game need for speed rocks

Now I must admit upfront that I have not spent much time with the recent NFS titles - the last one I played for a considerable time was NFS: Underground, and I've only sampled Most Wanted and Carbon for a little bit. Yet even with my limited experience, I can only ask - is this really a Need for Speed title? The game retains the concept of "street racing" by presenting a game with customized versions of normal road cars - usually Japanese import cars or US muscle cars, as seen on previous NFS titles, and tosses in some true supercars as well. However, the underlying concept of Need for Speed - the illegal races on public roads - has been tossed overboard. Yes, some early NFS titles had some races on closed roads and tracks, but as far back as I can remember, the critical feature has always been illegal racing on public roads, while dodging the traffic and avoiding the police.Read full review...

NFS ProStreet

Need for Speed ProStreet tried to change the arcade street racing aspect that made the series popular for a more subdue simulation track racing feel. The main task of the game is to become the king of the track and show the current king who's been talking trash where he belongs.

The main types of racing include Grip, Drift, Speed, & Drag. Within each of the types of races are some subset races ex. Drag = 1/4 mile, 1/2 mile, and wheelie competition. To advance throughout the game you must attend different events and win to unlock the next set of events. As you win an event you get to pick from 5 cards to win bonuses which range from cash, repair markers, to parts for your car. After you beat a track you have an option to either goto the map and advance to the next race or stay at the current track to attempt to dominate which will result in another chance to choose a prize.

Although it's a complete different feel from recent previous NFS titles it does have some tracks that are fun ex. the wheelie competitions were a unique and fun addition. The customization to the cars is in depth and although there's no neon lights the wind tunnel to enhance aero dynamics was an interesting feature.

All in all it's a far cry from recent previous titles in the series, but none the less it is still a fun unique racing game.

Highly Addictive

I originally rented this game to see if it was something worth buying. I played it until the next morning. Never has a game been so addictive, not even the previous versions were this fun.

You'll keep telling yourself "Just one more race" in an endless race to have the fastest, best looking car. I rate a good instead of excellent because of the lack of exterior modeling capabilities and ability to save car exteriors when switching blueprint types. I would like to see more hoods, body kits, and paint options. Midnight Club is far superior in this sense, but NFS Pro Street wins hands down on the race options.Read full review...

Great Game

I use to play this game on the Wii when it first came out and I loved it and so did my brother and even my dad who's not much into video games and recently bought it for Xbox 360 and it's even better and I can't wait to beat it again. The graphics are great but it would be nicer if the car selection was better and had more super carsRead full review...

NFS ProStreet - Not like Carbon, but a great NFS game!

I purchased this game because it is the newest installment to the Need for Speed Series which all the games to this point have been excellent. My only concern was the fact that the developers changed the game. In the past game, NFS Carbon, you were a street racer looking for revenge and you raced in the streets but in this game you pack up your cars and head out to the track to race at events.

However, this game did take me by surprise! I have enjoyed playing the game very much and have found the replay value to be very high!!! Even though I still prefer the street racing type of game, this one is great.

Good racing game but shift from most wanted

This is a good game from EA although I would not rate is as one of their bests. It is all on track racing as opposed to past titles where you race on the streets. The main thing that is missing is the ability to get in pursuits with the cops chasing you down. I think that was one of the best things about about the NFS games and the game definitely lacks that aspect of eluding the cops. The gameplay also gets repititive as I see as the main problem with lots of racing games. It is cheaper for them to make you drive a backwards on the same track and call it something different. The drag races are also very reptitive. All in all a good game but i would not tell everyone to go out and get a copy.Read full review...

Must aquire the taste for this game

The game is only for those who enjoy, forza motorsports, if you have a xbox 360 or gran turismo for playstation. This isn't the regular need for speed, it is more grown up and leaving the urban streets behind and settling a little while in the race courses. If your someone who grew up with nfs and like street racingand think professianal driving is boring avoid just til the next release of the new nfs or if you haven't played nfs carbon go for it. The reason I bought this game is beacause I simply like cars and everything about them. But if your are also a casual gamer don't pick it up this game requires alot of attention and may stress out the game in you.

- Thanks Mom for the game and Thanks Gamersfactory for a great deal.

The poor quality of the photos hid any imperfections on the case and disc and the interior of the case was lined with fingerprints, yuck. Condition is closer to "Good" than "Very Good", but it was at least complete. Luckily I have a spare case to swap with and the disc is in decent condition and plays fine.Read full review...

Decent game.

I have this game and Need For Speed: Most Wanted. Most Wanted was great, but this isn't far from it overall. What stands out most is if you're into manual shifting for games, this is the one you want to get. It's so real it has a clutch unlike most games. You can still set the car for auto in this game, but that takes away from the experience. This game also features drag racing and pop a wheelie competition. Instead of cities and neighborhoods as far as gameplay, it has more closed circuits then anything. I would say in my opinion this game is more of a hit or miss. You'll either like it or won't. I for the most part enjoyed it.Read full review...
