Neil from the beginning

I've read some other reviews about Neil's self titled release saying that it was like an artist trying to find his musical way. Well I have to tell you I don't quite understand what that means, Neil definitely seemed like he had a way with this now 4 decades old release. In fact, the formula seems clear to me, take one part rock, one part country and one part folk lyrics, mix for a while and voila out comes a unique, trademark sound that has made him relevant in rock music for 45+ years now. Although I don't think that this is anywhere near his best work, it was a great start for a young artist, and did give the listener a glimpse of what to expect outta him.Read full review...

Neil Young music.....time for a road trip !

Just added this to my collection after losing all my albums in that damn divorce so long ago. I have been slowly completing my collection of those lost albums. But in CD's and some in MP3 off Amazon.

I recently picked up the "Time Fades Away" album as well, in CD too....came from Europe. Only place I could find it in CD.
Too good if your a Neil Young fan like me, or us.
Complete YOUR collection, get them all on your pc, put them on an MP3 player and hit the Highway for that trip !
I'm gonna.......again and again .....can't wait.....

God Bless,
Rick in Wisconsin

Neil Young - Neil Young

Two single tracks (The Loner and The Old Laughing Lady) which would become Neil Young staples, on an initial artist release. Sounds like the potential for Rock and Roll immortality. Neil's music will live for an eternity; either solo material, Buffalo Springfield, or CSNY. Theoretically, the man should be enshrined into the Rock n Roll HOF on three separate inductions. That just doesn't happen. Only Clapton can even approach that line of royalty.Read full review...

Finally got it

Neil's first disc, a little more rock-oriented than I imagined it to be, but not as classic as the following disc. Standouts are "The Loner" and "The Old Laughing Lady." There are a couple of interesting instrumentals too, "The Emperor of Wyoming" and "String Quartet from Whiskey Boot Hill", which sounds like something John Cale would do. It's also nice to hear the original version of "I've Been Waiting For You", after hearing the versions by the Pixies and Bowie.Read full review...

The Old Laughing Lady

The must own debut album from Neil Young. A little more rock than folk but there's nothing wrong with that. Over the years Young has become one of my favorite artists and while he's had some ups and downs in his career I couldn't imagine not owning everything he's ever worked on. 5 Stars.Read full review...
