REALLY GOOD!

One of my favorites. It's challenging but not overly hard. For instance jak and daxter and jak 2 and 3 were ridiculously hard. Ya they were fun but when you got stuck on that one level for about 3 hours and you are just hyperventilating over the amount of rage that's pumping through your veins due to your brain melting over trying to figure out how to finish the stupid level before you throw your PS3 out the window of a 30 story building just to get some sort of satisfaction, they got pretty annoying. But this is a game that you can sit down and play for 25-30 min and get through a good section of the game. Ya Nintendo throws 1 or 2 hard levels that you got to work through but it is the right amount of difficulty for the right amount of game play. This game is most definitely worth it and and a great play for ones who like a good chill out game for after work or studying. Gives your mind a good break. :)Read full review...

A Classic Plumber Really Reborn

There are sometimes where you look at classic video games, and how much they've impacting the gaming industry. While there are great games out there that have been well-receieved like Halo, Doom, Madden '06, and others that've really shown a great depth of universal appeal. That has definitely also been the case with Mario. Since 1981, as Jumpman in Donkey Kong, Mario has been the most universal of all the video game characters and personas ever, and continues to develop with the times. That also has been shown with the Nintendo DS as well. The breakout success of Nintendo's latest handheld system has really been a great transition to how we play video games on hand with the stylus, and appeal of the dual screen action. Now, Mario is set to have that classic feeling all over again.

New Super Mario Brothers for the Nintendo DS brings a updated appeal to Mario, loosely based on the classic 2-D games he has been widely known for from Super Mario Brothers 1, 2, 3. and Super Mario World from the Super NES era. The object is just like the object from before, as you play Mario or Luigi, and try to go after Bowser and Bowser Jr. from stealing Princess Toadstool a.k.a. Peach. The game features over 80 different levels of exciting, and enjoyable gameplay. The game includes the classic moves from previous titles like the ground pounding (Super Mario 64 and Super Mario Sunshine), and the carrying turtle shells to defeat Koopa Troopas and Goombas (Super Mario Brothers), as well as new features like the mega mushroom which can turn Mario into a King Kong size, to really pound and knockout your competition. The graphics and the gameplay are just absolutely breathtaking and amazing, and really delivers what had been done from the early Mario titles before, while the sound is just purely classic. The control also is percise and in tune to each movement of Mario and company.

All in all, this is the second full length Mario adventure title to really deliver well for the Nintendo DS. Like what happened with Super Mario 64 DS did to showcase the brilliance of the DS, New Super Mario Brothers delivers the fun and appeal of a classic game, to a whole new generation of gamers. I definitely think this is one of the most definitive titles available for the Nintendo DS, and I really definitely think it should be a standard to your Nintendo DS library.

Let's hope that there is more to come!

Mario is back in the original side scrolling type game that launched the original Nintendo Entertainment System into a pop culture icon of the late 80's.

The visuals are nice touch and compliment the DS quite well. The updated 3d look make this game even more enjoyable than it was back in the day. The sound is everything you'd expect from Nintendo. They manage to mix the past and present so well that revisiting the 80's isn't embarassing as is usually ends up being!

The only complaint, as in most mario games, is the repitition and little replay value that they have. The bosses are usually defeated the same way and villians are not too tough to beat -maybe I'm too harsh here and I should enjoy it for what it is - good fun!

A FAVORITE!! AWESOME GAME!

I grew up with Mario Bros -- so this is an old-time favorite type game for me. The only thing I dislike is that it is really easy to beat if you know anything about Mario. I beat this entire game in about 2 days. Only maybe 3 hours of playtime. Bowzer was really easy -- the majority of the time to defeat him was just jumping on him 3 times, or throwing an item to knock him down and them jump on him 3 times...but still fun! The only thing I wished they did was combine part of Super Mario 3 into this one -- like the flying -- or saving more then one item. This one allows you to use an item [such as a flower] and save one in the bottom right hand corner.
Overall awesome for any Super Mario fan

The last world is a repeat and some people have found it difficult to figure it out, although I figured it out purely by accident....and then received a tip that helped...To prevent it from repeating, you go on the bottom one time [it will ding] go to the top [it will ding] and then go on the middle [it will ding] nad immediately following that stop repeating and then bring you to the final door.

Using a Large Mushroom is the easiest way to beat the final one -- because you can't just jump over them to get to the lever..

To get to world 4 you have to beat world 2 final castle as a mini mario -- which can be slightly difficult.

Same for world 7 -- beating world 5 final castle as a mini mario -- again can be slightly difficult...

Perfect price and product

This was the perfect purchase for a brand new video game that hasn't been opened. It was an excellent addition to the gaming collection.

Mario is back!

This is one of the best Mario games I've played in a while. I would say it's a mix of every Mario that ever came before it but it's actually a remake of the first Super Mario Bros. The graphics are very good and the gameplay holds up very well. It can be enjoyed by kids but by adults as well. Collecting all the secret coins is a real challenge.Read full review...

Great DS game for beginners

Just bought a used DS and don't know what games to play? Start with "New Super Mario Bros." which is hands down one of the best titles in the series. The game makes great use of both DS screens, is colorful/immersive, and provides hours of entertainment on the go or when you're bored. Among this game are some other DS classics I recommend looking into:

- Pokemon Diamond/Pearl: In my opinion one of the best Pokemon games ever released. Great for people who like RPGs and adventures.

- Mario and Luigi - Partners in Time: This game follows the story of Mario and Luigi who go back in time to... Well, i'll let you find out for yourself. Great story line and suited for action and logic seekers.

- Mario Kart DS: A personal favorite of mine, you can take to the track and make use of both DS screens to compete with other Mario characters on the track! Great for action and driving lovers.

These are only a few of the great games for the DS, which I recommend beginning with to get your feet off the ground.

Hope this helps!

Very fun game

This game is very close to Super Mario Bros. 3 for the Nintendo Entertainment System and is one of my favorites from that system, it has more levels and more mini games as well. The graphics and sound are both really good and the game itself is a lot of fun to play for any age group.Read full review...

Great Price, Works Good, Awesome Game

This game is usually found out there for 30-40$. For 10$ it's pretty good. Had some problems with getting the DS to recognize it at first but after that I had no complaints. Very good price for functionality.
I don't think I have to review the game. It slaps as any Mario game would.
