Exactly what I was looking for!

I bought this to replace an identical camera that was in my purse when it was stolen several years ago. Except for a couple of minor scratches, it was just like having my trusty camera back. I always loved how easy it was to use, and the quality of the photos. The original camera (bought new in 2009) was a Mother's Day gift. I was pleasantly surprised that I could find another camera just like it... and for a fraction of what we originally paid over 10 years ago. Don't Buy Used Cameras

The camera does not work. The battery compartment does not close completely. The camera will only work if you keep the battery compartment closed with pressure from your finger. When the pressure exerted by your finger is lessened, the camera turns off. Every time the camera goes off unintentionally, you are asked to reset the date. Wanted an inexpensive camera for my granddaughter (8 years old) but she will not be able to hold the battery compartment tight and take pictures at the same time.

I took a rubber band and wound it around the camera to hold the battery compartment tight. That works but the rubber band covers part of the view. Now it will take pictures without turning off BUT I now find that the camera does not accept the SDHC card. Can only take pictures with internal memory. Best camera for capturing ghosts/spirits!

I am a ghosts huntress. I go out each night, and take random pictures of my surroundings. Then all the orbs, and other ghostly things show up on my camera. This is one of THE best camera I have used personally. In fact, I was leaving my Mom's graveyard just the other night when I had the chance to finally take pics of an old and creepy abandoned house on the street leading to her cemetary. So I pulled over and took about 6-8 shots. I REALLLLLY wish I could show you what I caught as I was leaving!!! I was about to get into my car when I took 1 last photo randomly towards the house, over the roof of the car. When I looked back at that particular photo, I was in awe and SO Happy! I was rewarded and then some. I caught what looks to be a SOLID white, rather large orb thingy, that literally looked as if it's "tentacles" were moving off in 6 different directions at once...AMAZING! This is a GREAT camera! Not to mention it has accidentally fallen 3x's now and she's still running fine! Get this camera as a starter, and you may be as hooked as I am on it! Best Camera at a GREAT PRICE!

NIKON a name to trust! This camera has a multitude of easy to understand functions. It takes very clear photos and video. It is new enough to take larger SD cards. I am using an 8 gig now and it held much more than I could snap in a week in the Rockies.
The small thin size is very handy but I tend to stick it in my pocket in cargo pants where the stock case will let it turn on and run down the battery if you are not careful. It's almost better to go without the case. I would wish for a more ridgid case.
I can't say enough about the camera and the only other suggestion I would give is to get a couple back up batteries when you are going out on a full day's shoot as one tends to review the pictures on the screen often and show them to others etc. Battey life is fine if you don't keep reviewing & admiring your great photos in amazement as you will like the pictures this camera takes!Read full review...

An AWESOME camera for ANYONE, Easy to use and excellent quality pictures!!

I love this camera!!! I am currently on my second one! (only because the first fell out of my pocket and was overnight in the rain. But the video abilities still worked!! The rain got in the flash.) I have taken pictures while driving down the highway on the back of a motorcycle and they are just as clear and crisp as the ones taken standing still. This camera is amazing!!! Great children's camera

These used Nikon Coolpix make great children's cameras. They are inexpensive, lightweight and easy to use. If she should get a photo that is worth printing the quality is much better than the more expensive children's cameras on the market.
