A Great Classic Camera!

I am a professional photographer, and for me, this does everything a camera needs to do, without being tarted up with needless gadgets. I like a larger, "beefier" camera as I was a newspaper photographer for many years, and with the grip attached, it has the feel of the Nikon "pro" cameras of yore. The question of image quality is 90% dependent on the lens. Poor quality lenses will produce poor quality photographs. Excellent lenses coupled with a skilled photographer will produce great results. The D90 body is solid, controls logically placed, and it is "Tank rugged" for very high dependability. Some may wish to upgrade to get "the latest & greatest", but for solid photographic performance the D90 does the job very well for me. Every day! Read full review...

Even in 2020 a great camera with features and price

I have upgraded to multiple Nikon DSLR DX bodies over time but keeping coming back to D90. It’s a masterpiece from Nikon, the picture quality with 35mm/50mm 1.8 prime or with 18-105 VR, overall features and ease of use of this camera are just outstanding. Unless upgrading to FX to use standard lens, I have never felt the need to upgrade to pricy new DX models just because they have higher pixel sensor. You can’t go wrong with D90 decision even today. Newer than I thought

The Nikon D90 was introduced around 2009-2010 or so. This camera body coupled with the Nikon 18-200 f3.5-5.6 VR lens is the ultimate travel setup. The photos coming out of this pairing are exquisite; it is very difficult to get bad photos out of it.
I was shocked to find that there are still brand-new D90 bodies out there. The D90 body I purchased brand new in 2010 just gave up the ghost; it got water logged last year in Hawaii and has been going down hill ever since. I didn’t have $1000 to spend on the newest equivalent Nikon offering (D7500) and didn’t feel like learning how to use another new camera. This brand new D90 was a god-send. I figured since it was sitting at a store for the last 10 years, there would be at least some scratches on it - but nope, Brand-spankin’ new with 0 clicks on the shutter.Read full review...

Great camera for the beginner to upper intermediate!

These are great cameras and take wonderful pictures. They are perfect for learning on or for some one just looking for a camera to take pictures of their kids. The lower megapixels make the camera very forgiving and easy to get great pictures. Higher the megapixel counts require much better technique in camera handling. This camera offers the new user the opportunity use this complex camera to take beautiful photos with little skill. Taking photos in auto mode produces professional looking photos and offers the student the chance to take the same photo in various settings to learn the result of each setting.

Nikon maintains it's superior image!

I have ALWAYS had at least one Nikon, beginning in the 1970's and, with this purchase, have a second D90 as my spare. I also have an F2S (a photojournalist's film workhorse) and an FE (another film workhorse. Why? Because the cameras are rugged, accurate and last forever with some of the best lenses and accessories ever made. Take a look at any magazine and there will be a large number of Nikon images, if not a majority, of non-studio images. D90 oldie but goodie

Reliable with some excellent features. It’s not new or state of the art technology but can give you excellent photos. Be mindful of its limitations compared to newer more advance models. It’s smaller and lighter then the D300 which was its counterpart and has live view which comes in very handy for your focus needs especially in macro work. If you can get one for under $150 it’s a good deal. Also make sure the shutter count is not to high. Only buy if you can return.Read full review...

D90 Camera Body

This was a fair value for what I paid @ $150. The D90 is a solid workhorse DSLR. However, I actually wish I had spent more and upgraded to a higher resolution body as I already sense some future limitations. I am an experienced 35mm film photographer and was unsure if I would adapt to a DSLR. I love it! The D90 does everything I could ask and more. The key is getting the best lenses for what you are trying to shoot. The aftermarket one that came with this used camera was incompatible in terms of it not being AF or syncing well on manual but i am not complaining. Be prepared to spend some bucks for the right lens. Also recommend taking some online courses to familiarize yourself with the settings and functions. Time well spent!Read full review...

Great intermediate level DSLR

As a hold over from the film era as what I consider an intermediate level film photographer it was time to move to digital. Comming from the medium format and 35 mm world I have been looking for a solution that met my demands for image quality, solution flexability, and speed of use. I had spent about a year trying a vast array of digital cameras that did meet some of the criteria but not all. I focused in ton the Nikon D300 and the D90. The price of the D300 in my mind did not equal the few advantages it offered over the D90. I have found the DSLR meeting all of my criteria and very easy to use. If anything it has to many options, but I know I will find use for them as time passes. The image quality easily rivals the D300 for my needs. The D90 is flexible. At the point and shoot level it is very simple and fast. With the help of actually reading the manual (what a concept) the DSLR is intuitive. My only complaint is I need to get a new collection of glass to take full advantage of the power of this camera. If you are an advanced beginner or intermediate level photographer you should give the D90 a test drive. Yes my next will be the D300, but I believe the D90 will stay with me.Read full review...
