Let's face it: I bought it because it looks like the film SLR I had in college. You know, a Nikon F and a Nikkormat.

It has the same image chip as a D4, so I'm getting a D4 at a 50% discount, or a D610 at a 50% mark-up. I don't care.

best new "old school" camera

I grew up using 35MM film and this DF is just like the old days without waiting for my film to be processed.
works great in manual mode, so if your not on your game you might not enjoy this camera as much.
coupled with my 85MM nikon D lens, it produces the most wonderful, sharp images with perfect bokeh

"NORFOOT" - semi pro Norwegian

This is a very phantastic camera, also for my many Lenses from filmtime. So many tests show this as well. I did not buy it. Reason is missing image stabilisation in camera. I use many elder lenses as also some M42 system, Schneider and Voigtlander. Nikon, Zoomar, Olympus and Minolta mirror lenses also.
An uppgrade of this camere with body Image stabilisetor and newer sensor can easy move me back to Nikon - from Pentax.Read full review...
