Great find!
I am always pleased with Nikon products. When I bought a DSLR D780 I was not aware that it couldn't use any of my flashes as a commander. I have a couple of SB-800, one SB-700 and one SB-400. They still work great but felt a little let down when I learned that I could still use my flashes and change their settings but had to do it individually in each unit. The SB-500 works as a commander and lets me control my flashes with the D780. I did not have to buy the expensive SB-5000. Now I have one more flash to play with my creative lighting.Read full review...

Great speed light, must have
Great product for on the go photographers and mobile photoshoots. There are multiple settings with brightness and it creates good lighting for indoor photography in darker settings as well as great bounce flash.Read full review...

Nice Flash, Fair Price
This compact Nikon SV-500 is a terrific small flash for use in fairly close up use. It is very compact, easy to use, simple and light to carry with you.

Worth it
After buyer’s remorse when a bargain flash was a nightmare of missed shots, I finally spent the money right. This works almost flawlessly (there is no perfection in photography). It can be left on and has been ready instantly for all of my shots thus far. I am still learning to use the LEDs for fill, but they are a great option (hate that washout). Battery life has been great and I recommend good nickel metal hydrides. Finally, it is easy to operate, but will work as a slave (I haven’t used this feature). There are more powerful flashes, but this is compact and powerful enough for most shots.
Save your pennies; about $200 worth, and buy this. Then shoot!Read full review...

Easy to use. It works excellent.
I purchased this flash for my Nikon D3300. It is fully compatible, very easy to attach and remove. Very easy to use for beginners. Batteries last very well and the flash recycle very fast. Another good thing is that you can update the firmware of the this flash.Read full review...

A lot of value for price
This little flash is quite small and light weight, yet it provides;
- you can shoot in iTTL, TTL, or manual modes
- provides high speed sync (rare in a flash of this price range)
- can be either a commander or receiver in Nikon CLS remote flash setups,
- provides front and rear curtain sync.
That's a good deal of value in such a compact unit. Down side? It only uses 2 of AA batteries so it's a second or two to recycle.Read full review...

The lamp design has no LCD display.
It looks good. But there are no coverings, no coats, no lampshades, just bare lamps. So four stars.

great!
This is not the flashiest, fastest, most fancy Nikon speed light but is EASILY the best for the buck. Yes you can get more features ( that you never use or need ) but you can't beat this little beauty's performance.Read full review...

Lightweight, smaller flash but does a lot
Got this an upgrade from the SB 300. It like it because it can swivel and bounce the flash anywhere. It is not large, like the SB 700, so I am not so conspicuous at gatherings.
