Pretty good GameBoy

The GameBoy has worked pretty well so far. I used it for a shell mod. The lens was pretty good with minimal scratching. The shell had some scratches and needed some cleaning, but I ended up using the front white shell in the mod and replaced everything else. All in all, pretty good. Fun But Problematic

Screen is way too dark to honestly play in without ideal settings and lots of light for help. I do not recall straining my eyes this much to play it back when it was new and my eyes are not old at all. Other than that, the product is exactly as described and everything works very well. It really is only usable as an indoor machine and only when under a lamp above. other than that, you wont be able to see in sunlight or if visibility around you is low. i personally purchased as a controller for the gameboy to gamecube gimmick for which it works fine, but do not expect to be feeling like a real gamer on this one. Best handheld for your money, just lacks backlighting.

This handheld console is impeccable! The ergonomics alone on this device is enough to earn it a near perfect review for one of the most comfortable handhelds on the market, and definitely one of the most comfortable Gameboy units to use. The screen resolution far exceeded all previous generation Gameboy units, and even is a tad larger than the Nintendo DS Lite's resolution. The only drawback is the fact that this generation does not include a backlit screen unlike all of its successors. For around 45.00 and some tech knowledge, this unit can be modified (out of warranty of course) to accept a Gameboy Advance SP backlit screen (AGS101). It gives it a whole new level of play that allows you to see better not only at night, but also durring the day time too!

The game selection for this unit is also way ahead of it's time. With all the original titles from NES to SNES, and all the original titles, this gameboy has one of the most versatile libraries to date.

I give this a 4.8/5 because it lacks the backlit screen. That is the only reason it gets dinged!Read full review...

Great if you are going to mod/restore.

It has been used heavily, and not cared for by a collector. Despite that, the functionality of the GBA is surprisingly responsive. The screen operates as intended and there is not a large build up of corrosion on the battery connections. For what i intend to do with the unit, it is better than i was hoping for. I will be replacing the shell with one for a backlight screen, and all buttons + pads. A thorough cleaning of internals and it will be like new. i like that the controls are on the sides and not underneath. i just place it under a strong light and play away. i buy batteries in bulk so when they get low i put two more in . when they revised it (ga sp ) they should've just put a backlight in it .Read full review...

I opened the package and was flooded with emotion

When I was young I used to have the GameBoy glacier and played all my favorite games. Being in a household with seven other kids I hardly ever had anything in which I can call my own. I’ve been meaning to buy one of these consuls for such a long time. And when it arrived it was packaged nice and neatly, and even had the game and a pair of batteries already in the consul. By just having it in my hands it brought back wonderful memories of simpler times. I guess the only concern in which I had was if it was going to work.
