Sleek, Excellent and highly portable phone! Great To own one!

I purchased this phone to replaced HTC HD2 phone and it turned out to be a very good replacement. After couple hours playing with the phone and settings, given that every other aspects are standard on these new smart phone nowadays (i.e storage capacity) here are what my thoughts on it:

****PROS:
1. Very sleek design, light weights and extremely portable
2. Buttonless screen(except power and volume buttons on the
side), which gave more screen viewing area, and I think
this was derived from the Concept phone, Nokia Aeon.
3. The touchscreen were extremely responsive and smooth as
compare to most touch screen phone, including I-phone.
4. The camera produced very good quality pictures, I would
say as good as my 14.5 MP point and shoot camera.
5. Reception is excellent as comparing to my HTC HD2 and
other phones I used to used! I am using T-Mobile.
6. Came with many built in applications and some free games
7. Produce excellent sound quality, I wuold say it is as good
as the IPod and Iphone.
8. The storage data transfer speed is lot faster than my
other phones.
9. Double taping on the locked screen to resume/unlock the
phone is very convenience (you can also press the power
button to unlock but this might damage the button from excessive uses.
10. Excellent Battery life (most Nokia Phone I've ever own has good batteries life anyway).
****CONS:
1. Lack of file and storage managements features. User can not explore, view, or manage the actual data on the phone storage as "Files and Folders" using the phone itself, which I was able my old Android phones and Windows Mobile phones. I could not figure this out and had to connect the phone to my PC to be able to do so.
2. Lack of quick screen lock feature (one touch screen lock from tapping or screen swiping patterns to lock the screen) instead of pressing the power button every time user want to lock the screen and this might damages the power button from excessive uses.
3. Lack of closing button for individual apps but user can use the opened app windows to close any or all opened apps by tap and hold onto the screen to yield the closing buttons, and this took me a little while to figures it out since the instructions/guide did not show it.
4. Lack of centralized connections management features. User will have to go into layers of setting to get into Bluetooth, WiFi connections, and so on. On Android and Windows phone, you can manage all the connections using the built-in connection management feature quick and easy.
5. Lack of instructions/Guides/Manual. The booklets that came with the phone itself, show very little on the phone, nothing but basic stuff.
6. The apps availabilities won't be rich as for the Andriod and I-Phone market since the phone only release in Europe but not worldwide and on the top of that, Symbian OS isn't as popular as Android and that IOS of I-Phone.
7. Somehow, WIFI speed was affected by the Bluetooth. The download speed were excellent until I switched on Bluetooth to Synchronize the phone book with my old phone, WIFI immediately became unbearably slow but back to normal once I switched off Bluetooth and I am not sure if this is just happening on my N9 phone or it is a known issue to the N9.
8. Can't use front facing camera unless use app, such as Skypes
***If Nokia can release updates to improves these, the phone will be superb phone. It is pretty cool & Unique to own it since it is not popular in the U.S

Best phone avaiable. If you want something different, it won't dissapoint.

Pros:
* Great screen (looks good even in direct sunlight)
* Tons of RAM (I haven't run out yet, and I use a lot of RAM)
* The power of full Debian (Nokia has consumerized Linux in such as way as to make it easy to use for beginners while still having all of the power than advanced users demand)
* Limited root access is available out of the box.
* Thousands of Applications
* The best phone, SMS, Instant Messenger, VOIP, Video Call, and email integration of just about any smart phone.
* Good conductivity (2.4GHz and 5GHz Wireless-N, Bluetooth, NFC, GPS)
* Alarm works even when the phone is turned off. Great for use as an alarm clock.
* Free downloadable and stream-able for the world. If you download a map to your device, you get complete offline GPS, route planning, and turn-by-turn directions. Free updates for the maps to ensure that you can always find where you are going.
* High-end rear facing camera with dual LED flash. The LED flash makes a great flashlight. There is also a front facing camera.
* Great user interface. Not quite as intuitive as Maemo 5, but the built in tutorial tells you just about everything you need to use. After you know what you are doing, the interface is very fast and convenient.
* Lots of cool options and settings. This thing will even tell you which cell networks it can find, and allow you to force roaming.
* Nice virtual keyboard options. The standard keyboard is one of the best I have seen/used.
* Good multimedia integration.
* Plastic body seems to be very tough.
* Nokia has promised to support the device until 2015.

Cons:
* Screen and rear chrome region seem to be fragile and scratchable. I would highly recommend getting a screen protector. I tried several, and the only one that covered the whole screen was the Zagg Invisible Shield.
* Battery will last around 2 days of light usage when on 2G only mode. Drops to 1 day of reasonable usage in 3G/2G dual mode.
* Battery is not user replaceable.
* Stock browser isn't very good. Luckily, there are two very nice free alternatives in the Nokia Store. I really like Opera Mobile, but Firefox Mobile is nice too.
* Front camera isn't very good, and has poor low-light performance.
* Difficult to flash to "Open Mode" to get unrestricted root access.
* Nokia keeps delaying Flash 11.x for the Nokia N9. The last word is that it should come this week.
* No hardware keyboard. Bluetooth keyboards are not supported out of the box. There are, however, work arounds.
* Likely one one or two more major updates. Nokia has only promised one more. There have already been two, so I guess 3 major updates for a device isn't that bad. There were community updates for the N900 after Nokia stopped supporting it, but there weren't on the level of Cyanogen Mod for Android.
* It may seem expensive for a 1GHz single core phone. The rest of the hardware is top-notch, and they software is very good. Because the software is written natively for this specific device and hardware set, the performance is more comparable to an iPhone than Android. Android only needs all of those cores because it is loaded down with Java and other bloatware. The amazing software on this device is worth the money.
* It is possible to break the operating system, especially if you enable developer mode and don't know what you are doing. Luckily, it is easy to flash the device back to a working state, and very hard to brick the phone.
* WiFi reception isn't very good. It isn't terrible though.

Great Product,Buy if your tired of having the same phone as everybody else!

This is one of Nokia's better phones in recent years. One of the main reasons to have this phone is really to standout. I had an iPhone 4S and can say this phone has a better battery life, a MeeGo operating system that utilizes a swipe functionality and also plays just about any type of audio or video file. I would still recommend another phone if you are interested in having a good App and Accessory collection, but if you want something different and that can stand out and is still a great phone go of it.Read full review...

easy, nice, fast, cool, design, quality, look, NOKIA

This phone is the best phones of Nokia. I have it and it's really good. I can't wait the update 1.3. It's easy to use. If you like simple and easy way to navigate from app to game go for N9. I used to have N8 and it's really nice but this one is really that simpler than n8. Swipe from up down left and right is fun and comfortable. It's open source, that's mean you could do anything with it. you could change the color of the clock to any color you want. I have the cyan N9 and I put cyan clock. Nokia should do before long time ago. However Nokia impressive me with this device.Read full review...

Wery good phone not perfect but nothing ever is.

Exactly what I thought it would be. Everything works nice and it's the best phone I ever had. Only problem is that nokia has stopped fully supporting it and there are only few apps for it in the nokia store. That's the reason I "only" gave it 4/5 stars. As it is based on linux though so you can get many apps from other sites with some effort. Way to go Nokia! So sad you went with Microsoft after this one =(Read full review...
