Exact replacement but difficult to wire
I was pleasantly surprised to find an exact replacement for the 3-speed switch for my ceiling fan. It was a problem to connect however. The wiring connections (which were plainly marked, by the way) required that the wires be pushed into slots. The ceiling fan wiring is stranded, so the wires were not stiff enough to push into the slots. I had to "pig-tail" each wire, using a wire nut to attach a small piece of solid-core wire to each of the four wires. The solid-core wire went into the slot quite readily, so it was smooth sailing from that point on. Read full review...

Workable but limited speed selection
This was a replacement for a 2 capacitor Casablanca fan switch that was 19 years old, failpoint was the chain retracted into the housing. I could not figure out how to get the wires in the small holes, really awkward with the fan housing hanging from the ceiling. This is pre wired so took out that problem. As pointed out by other reviews, the color coding of the original will not necessarily match this. Key is noting which numbers the original switch colors go in. Either take a picture or write down. Then it is a matter of ignoring the colors and matching the numbers. The 3 speed seems to have only 2 speeds, fast and slow. The third speed is just rotation, probably to move air during winter as heat rises. Not the perfect replacement but it will do, that's why I gave it 3 stars.Read full review...

If you want to fix your ceiling fan, you should buy this.
Worked great! Need to keep original so you can match with colors. The colors may be different from the original, but if you have the original, you can figure out which wires to connect. I bought the type that did not have the wires attached. That was impossible to get the wires in the little holes. I recommend this unit if you want to fix your ceiling fan easily.Read full review...

Operating the switch requires too much force for use in a ceiling fan.
The switch will not operate in a ceiling fan because there is too much resistance when pulling the chain. Either the chain will break or the fan will have damage. In addition to excessive resistance, the chain is pulled at a right angle to the switch, which exacerbates the problem.Read full review...

Poorly designed push-in wire connections; pull-string switch operation is OK.
Price was OK, but do yourself a favor and buy a switch with wires for connections. The push-in connections are poor and don't hold the wires in place. I ended up using 14GA solid copper wire with hot glue "potting" to hold the wires in place. I know that push-in connections are common on AC plugs and switches and hold very well. Not even one of these would hold the solid copper wire much less the stranded wires that come with most fans. Read full review...

Good item for the correct ceiling fan
Who knew 3-speed ceiling fan switches aren't standard? The switch was fine and easy to install. I don't know the make and model of my fan, so the switch only allows me one speed: high. If it were low I would have been happy. Guess it's time for a new fan. Read full review...

Right part, right price
The price was right first off, and although the wire colors didn't match those in my ceiling fan ( I went by the numbers on the back of the switch case) when installed the switch worked fine.
Always a nice feeling when a new part, costing less than elsewhere, does the job.Read full review...

Strip your wires to insert in either open holes on side
Ok but most wires are soft and bend easily and therefore getting the wires to penetrate properly is a pain. That is why I would rather the manufacturer create it with stripped wires protruding in order to easily wire nut the wires together.Read full review...
