Small Scale Excellence

This is early days for a complex art tool. Give me a year or so and I will have a more useful opinion.
Also, I selected this model as sufficiently advanced to have the features I want to use, and at the same time it is far enough behind the bleeding edge of technology that the price was reasonable.

The good:

The camera is small and light, easy to carry. I installed the strap easily, and the lens (a 14-42 from my older E-420) using an aftermarket adapter that allows auto focus. The results were fine, things work well. My photos are in focus and the camera is a pleasure to use.

The screen, and its articulating function is OK. I had a Nikon with an articulating screen I prefer but when I get more used to it I expect it will function as easily as the old Nikon. It is great for taking pictures with the camera high over my head, or at waist level. I am not likely to do many selfies though.

I like the number of art effects I can use and other functions I have yet to try out.

I intend to use it for some short video projects later on.

The battery life is good, and after marked batteries have considerably greater capacity for pretty cheap. I bought two.

The software that comes with the camera is useful and easy to use. The various controls and buttons are logically placed and easy to use.

The bad:

Nothing.

Other comments.

The screen is really nice, and I wonder about its long term resistance to dust and scratches in the camera bag. I am now shopping for a hard surface protective cover for the screen and an appropriate bag to carry all the camera rattle around.

Because of the minimalist nature of the camera, it needs a little planning before setting out on a photo mission.

Do I want to mount the flash unit or carry it in the bag? What about a couple of extra lenses, batteries, and other stuff. How long do I want to stand around juggling pieces before the photo op goes away?

I have spare memory cards, but I am shopping for a USB cable so I can download the images direct without opening the camera.

Oh yeah. I like the look of that fat zoom lens barrel mounted on the tiny little camera body.

Minimalistic and excellent for it's size!

Love it! Very good for beginners and minimal size! Image quality, when paired with a good lens is superb!

Can you stand to be amazed?

Hello Folks,
I own the E-M5 and wanted this as a secondary Camera and to keep a second Lens easily available. It is a fine piece of equipment and has all the features of the E-M5 except the Viewfinder. Very light and good for travel as it takes up very little room in a shoulder bag. I love the tilt screen and the picture quality is stellar! Can be used in auto or you can get more involved with all the different settings. Expect the best because this Camera will deliver it.
