Too soon to tell, but am hoping for a long and useful lifetime.

I have not used the camera much as I have just received it. be that as it may, the quality of build is high and the point and shoot function produces great snaps. I concur with other users the 100 page computer required CD manual is daunting. I was not expecting that and dislike the fact the options such as the butterfly lens cap are options as is the every expensive optical view finder, optional flash, and stand alone battery charger. None the less, I do find the camera to be overall excellent. Time will tell if it will hold up to hard use. Because of it's small size, it is a good alternative to most heavy and bulky DSRL cameras currently on the market. Since most of my photos will consist of 4 X 6 prints, I am in hopes this camera will serve as my walk around companion for some time to come.Read full review...

Olympus XZ-2

Compact camera with very good picture quality. The optic has very good quality for the price. For hobby photographers, for travellers is a great choice. The touchscreen is very practical. It works for focusing, in picture vew mode as well. Focusing is enough fast, the menu is working fast as well. I didn't check the battery yet, but it's changeable. The video quality is also very good. We can hear the focusing motor sound slightly in the movie, not so much. For memories the integrated mic is enough, great for most of people. We can make a very-very good quality video/movie if we use a separate sound recorder.Read full review...

A Handy Little Camera

The good thin about this camera is that it does take good images and is easy to throw in a jacket pocket.

Great camera, great value. Definitely worth the purchase.

I have always liked Olympus cameras and this one doesn't disappoint. It's small enough to drop into a purse. It does have a little weight to it but it is still reasonably lightweight. It feels very sturdy in your hand. I haven't had it long, but the few test shots I've done have been crisp and clear. Video and sound is also very good. Between the photo quality and features which include RAW support, this camera can give most DSLR's a run for their money. The menu is not simple and straightforward and initially seems difficult and a little convoluted to navigate. If you stay with it and don't let frustration put you off, taking the time to learn how to navigate through the menu will make it worthwhile. The only thing about it that I can say I definitively don't like is the lens cap. There is a way to attach it to the neck strap but if you choose not to attach the strap to the camera, there is nothing to keep the lens cap from falling off if you happen to turn the camera on without taking the cap off first. While this can be remedied by separately purchasing the attachable lens cap that automatically opens and closes when you turn the power on or off, if you are not looking to spend any more money the only solution is to try and remember to take the cap off before hitting the power button. Also, there is no physical instruction manual; this is included in the software and can be downloaded onto your computer which means you have the option of printing it out yourself. Unfortunately, carrying a letter size manual around when learning to use the camera may not be practical or feasible. Olympus offers the physical manual, which isn't the smallest thing in the world either, but it is smaller than a bunch of 8 1/2 x 11 sheets of paper. The catch is they charge $10 for it. Personally, I think they should offer this for free if requested. Although it is not the latest camera on the market and the model is about 3 years old, I can't find any fault with this camera. If you're not easily intimidated by seemingly complicated menus and want a compact camera that will provide many features and quality comparable to a DSLR, this could very well be the camera for you.Read full review...

Great compact camera

The Olympus XZ-2 is a sturdy, well made compact camera. The picture quality is amazing. There are many, many features on the camera for special effects and it takes great low light pictures. If long distance zoom is important, this may not be the camera for you but this camera was perfect for our vacation. It fit right into my purse, isn't bulky, even with the case and is very easy to use. I love this camera!Read full review...

old is new again.

It replaced the ZX-2 I bought in 2012 that finally died. I loved that one and I love the new one just as much.

Good camera

Good camera. Not may point-and-shoot cameras left, smartphone photos have largely replaced. There is still a use for these cameras.

Good but not excellent jpeg photos in most situations.

This camera is certainly an upgrade from the XZ-1, which I previously owned, but not as good as I was expecting...Performance was acceptable in most situations and excellent in some.
Instructions from Olympus were convoluted which is the case with most Japanese products.
It's a nice competent camera but I was hoping for better performance from a product upgrade.
