Operation Wolf Review

Operation Wolf is one of the few games made for the NES Zapper. The graphics are pretty good for its time, and the difficulty is pretty hard for its time as well. The game handles easily, but with my zapper i have to use both the zapper and the controller to play it. the controller i have to use for grenades, which makes it a lil tough to say the least. But Over all, i like it, its a great game, a person can easily waste several hrs just shooting away.Read full review...

Nes Zapper Game

Gameplay 5

Graphics 3

Tilt 4

* Difficulty: Hard
* Learning Curve: 0 to 30 Minutes
* Time Spent: 10 Hours or Less

Its a first person-side scrolling shooter. You direct a crosshair and fire wildly at cuban soldiers, tanks, and helicopters. You can toss grenades too.

Oddly enough, as your fighting for your life in these wartorn, Cuban territory random things run accross the screen. This includes children, baywatch babes, tomboys, pigs, chickens, nurses, and buzzards. And strangley when you shoot the animals they give you clips of ammo... uh huh..

Moving on, the graphics are ugly and xtremley stereotypical. The gun clips and grenades look HUGE and ridiculous. Ya know what? This part of the review is over.

This game is hard.. because so much is happening on your screen, and the graphics are so ugly you can't make out a house from a soldier. However, there is no replay value unless you have something against Cubans and just want to keep shooting them. The ending was BEAT - You fly away in an ugly US plane and some random old guy (who I'm guessing is your General) says, "You're a real pro"... then the game restarts.

This game was advertised as a light gun shooter, but the fact is, is that you can play it with the controller and have more success. Its basically a rail shooter...a pretty difficult one at that. but the enemies always spawned or appeared in exactly the same places everytime. So the advantage with using the controller is that you can just move the aiming circle to the place you knew an enemy was, giving you the advantage.... get ready for alot of dying and alot of trial and error.

operation wolf review by the mack daddy himself

A group of desperate terrorists is keeping hostages in their jungle fortress. As a member of the elite tactical squad Operation Wolf, you must invade their hideout, destroy their operations, and get the hostages out alive! Maneuver through a series of missions and fight off soldiers, patrol boats, helicopters, and more. The further you progress, the more enemies you’ll have to defeat and the harder they’ll try to stop you in your tracks (going so far as tossing knives and grenades at you or wearing armor). Not only that, but each area along your path ends with a boss battle where you’ll have to find and exploit each boss’s particular weakness. Topping it all off is the fact that your weapon options are also limited, so you’ll need to conserve ammunition and grenades. Operation Wolf is said to be the most valiant and capable unit in the military—can you save the hostages and win the day?Read full review...

Leave the Zapper out of this one, to have fun.

I bought this game to expand my Nintendo zapper compatible games collection. The game is compatible with the Nintendo zapper, but I would not advise using the zapper with this game. With the fast pace nature of this game, completely renders the zapper useless for most people. Luckily, the game is also compatible with Nes controller, so use that instead. The game is a bit hard, especially for the young ones where multiple attempts will have to be made, just get past the first level. The difficulty level is above average is far as zapper games go, but if you won a national championship for using a pistol, then you should try the zapper, everyone else should use the controller. It's a fun game that requires practice, patience, and time to have any fun.Read full review...

"the good old days"

my wife and i had been going through some old boxes in our cellar and found our kids old Nintendo outfit, our six kids have long sense grown and gone on their own raising their own families and, well anyways,we doug it out and decided to hook it up and try it out again for old times sake and found we needed some new paddles for it and so i was looking on eBay for some, and of course, came across games too and saw the "operation wolf" game and then remembered playing it at the arcade all the time when we used to take our kids there and because of the great memories it bought back for me i just had to get it. i haven't had the chance to play it as yet, but when i do, i intend to beat it bad! oh yea!!!Read full review...

Fun classic.

Not as good as the arcade game. There needs to be a turbo setting for the trigger on the light zapper gun. This game wears out your trigger finger.

Operation Wolf NES - zapper game

its fun because it is side scrolling and you can throw grenades. Basically, its more intense and creative than Duck Hunt. Several different levels with a lot of detail in the graphics. If you like NES gun games then you gotta try this one.Read full review...
