Should Have Bought One Sooner !!!
I've been paying to get chains sharpened for years.....Even though I touch up with a file in between, it adds up.. I also notice That they sometimes just get it wrong, don't lower the rakers, grind more than necessary and leave burnt (overheated) teeth.
I probably spent too much time setting up and researching the way to use this properly, but after doing a couple of chains, I am SOLD.... I cut the recommended angles on my Stihl chains and they cut beautifully. I like being in charge of how much metal to take off to get the job done. My chains are going to last longer.
I gave four stars because the tooth depth stop is a little weak and tends to flex when pulling the chain back to set the cut depth. The wheel guard being screwed on is a pain to change wheels. Otherwise EXCELLENT MACHINE

Not working for me
I had to drill the second hole on my chain arm to put this on. The option to use it without the second knob is useless, the chain will destroy the sharpener. So after drilling is on and you hear the grinding and you think hey this may actually work. Of with it, start cutting and 5 min later dull again. Tried it 4, 5 times and same results. So back to eBay to order some new chains. And when I have the time sit back with my old rotary tool and patience to get real results.Read full review...

Well worth the money for a great grinder.
Great grinder, quick and efficent. I normally grind 5-6 chains at a time and touch up in the field as needed. This grinder allowes me to set the angles correctly after a couple of manual sharpenings which may have thrown the angle off. Easy set up and super easy to use.Read full review...

Great potential but could use a couple of improvements.
There are good things to be found about this grinder, though I was a little disappointed with a couple of specific items. The vise is the biggest limitation of this unit. It does not hold the chain well. The cam concept is great but not very well implemented. The contact surface of the cam is so small that it only grabs the drive link of the tooth you are trying to sharpen by the corner. This allows the tooth to tip during grinding even after pulling the chain against the stop securely as indicated in the manual. A slight redesign where there is a larger contact area by the cam would be a great help. The second issue is the depth stop is very flimsy and because of it does not stop the head consistently in the same place. Even when using a light touch can be very difficult to "feel" when the head has reached the stop because of so much play. Because of these issues I can't say I recommend it at this point, but if Oregon makes a couple of small improvements I think this would be an amazing grinder for sure. Hope this helps someone out there. Read full review...

A big improvement over file or dremmel.
I had never used this type of sharpener before getting this one. It seems to work pretty well. I have just a couple of things that I wish were better. The chain clamp could be better, but works ok. The second minor complaint has to do with the instructions which only show sharpening specs for Oregon chains. Read full review...

Great value
This seems to be a well made product from Oregon, a good value for the money. The only thing that I have found it lacking in, compared to the 520 model, is the ability to line the chain vise directly under the cutting wheel. The only drawback is that you need to readjust the chain position when switching from left cutters to right cutters in order to get the teeth the same length. A minor inconvenience considering the price jump to the next model. It sharpens chains great.Read full review...

Oregon 410-120 Standard Bench Grinder an Excellent Choice
I purchased this unit to sharpen my chain saw chains myself. I have 8 used chains that need sharpening frequently and at $5-10 per chain each time, it can get a little spendy. This unit is very good quality and very easy to set up and use. Never having used one of these before, I was set up and sharpening in less than 30 minutes. I had to do a little research to learn what chains I had with respect to cutting angle and size of wheel to use. Once I had this figured out, I set the machine at a 55 degree wheel angle and a 30 degree vise angle and started sharpening, Each chain took about 15 minutes.
The true test of the quality of sharpening is actually cutting some trees. I cut down 5 large pines trees and the newly sharpened chains cut through them like a knife through butter.
I highly recommend this unit to any serious wood cutter.Read full review...

Tremendous value for for the Money
Excellent product for the average lumber jack. I say "average" because I am not a logger nor arborist but a simple homeowner who cuts about 10-15 cords of firewood per year. Tremendous value for the quality of this machine. Easy to use, consistent sharpening and much better quality than you get at those discount big box hardware stores even if they offer 20^ off every purchase.Read full review...
