One of those Classics that cannot be denied!

I really enjoy this CD for a number of reasons. First of all, despite the fact it was created a weird, nerdy foursome from Georgia, the tunes on this CD are instant classics. R.E.M. has the gift of taking awkward lyrics and alt-country instrumental musings and making them sound completely orignal. "Losing My Religion" is an obvious example of this. It sounds completely out of left field, yet it is so relatable!

I would totally recommend this CD to anyone, even those that are not fans of REM. There are very few indie bands that can come out of left-field and come out rock stars. REM is one of those examples, and OUT OF TIME is the best place to start with them.Read full review...

Losing My Religion

Starting off with a super lame intro REM leads into Radio Song and thus kicks off their worst album. But first with the bright spot: Losing My Religion. One of REM's greatest and most beautiful songs. Moving along we must face the fact that this album is way too poppy for an REM CD and ends up being pretentious, dated, and embarrassing. For those who must buy this (and for those who will tear me apart for this bad review) I will concede that there are a few moments on a few bad songs that appeal to me (Texarkana has a moment) but ultimately this one crashes and burns. 3 Stars.Read full review...

NEW REM Sound

This is a very special album as it is all acoustic. REM had a garage band feel before this album and they went an completely different direction. Highly recommend!

Out of Time, an odd title for an Greatest Hits compilaton CD. REM is a good example of non mainstream music that is uniquely timeless. A non mainstream band while they lasted.

This is REM's best album. It combines their unique style with popular melody and rhythm. One of the top albums of all time.
