Pentax Optio 50 Digital Camera 5.0 MP 3 X Optical Zoom
Overall this is the best digital camera I have ever owned, the Pentax Optio 50 has 5.0 effective megapixels, 3X optical zoom lens, bright easy to read 1.8 inch LCD, 12 MB of built in memory. One of the best features this camera has is the macro mode for up close photos, I can take a great detailed photo from 3 inches from the subject. It comes with the software for editing your photos, and completely detailed instructions on cd-rom, that will walk anyone through setting up and using this camera and all of it's many features. Also includes a basics booklet. It also has a movie mode so you can do video also. The only cons with this camera (2), is 1. that it doesn't come with a AC adaptor, however you can purchase one, the cd-rom gives the specifications so you can purchase the right one. 2. You better have a good supply of AA bateries, if you do not have the adaptor, and if you're planning on taking lots of pictures, this camera will drain the batteries fast (on the highest quality picture setting), you can probably get 40 to 50 pictures on two AA batteries on this setting. When you shut off the camera, the zoom lens fully retracts into the camera and two shutter doors close to completely cover and protect the lens. It has a built it flash that you can set to 1. flash with every picture, 2. no flash, and 3. Flash when the camera detects it needs more light. It has little icons on it's screen for practically every feature the camera has, however, only the feature icons that are being used at that time will display on the screen, and they are only along the border of the screen, and do not interfere, unless you need to see detail on the edge of the picture, one of those icons is the battery indicator that has three color modes, 1. green=good charge, 2. yellow=medium charge, and 3. Red=low charge, so at a glance you can see the battery status. It has a viewfinder also, but I just use the screen. It has an SD memory card slot in the battery compartment, so you're not limited to the 12 MB memory the camera has. It comes with a USB cable so you can place all your pictures on your computer fast and easily with the supplied software. It comes with a RCA type cable so you can view all your pictures on your TV, and it has a wrist cord you can attach to the camera, so you don't have to worry about dropping the camera. This camera is so good, a beginner could take pictures, and those pictures turn out like the pros, all you need is steady hands, or you can get a mini tripod that attaches with a small screw at the bottom of the camera. This camera has a lot of other features, too many to mention here, although I think I covered most of the important ones. If you need a quality digital camera, and are on a budget, this camera runs new for approximately $120.00 to $150.00 on average and you can buy them right here on eBay, and Pentax has been making cameras for many many years and is a top of the line digital camera manufacturer, a name you can trust. OK but definitely nothing fancy
Luckily I bought this camera as a spare. It seems to take pretty good pictures outdoors but can't be used for anything very close. The flash over exposes at closer range. You will most definitely need an SD card because the internal memory is so small that you will be lucky to get 5 shots and then it's full. This would be a good camera for the kids to mess with but if you're even halfway serious about your picture taking...you might want to consider something else. Pentax Optio 50 Review
Takes great pictures and the free 1gb memory card is awesome. However the camera eats through its rechargeable batteries like crazy. The batteries and recharger are really nice but the camera just eats them up. All in all for the price its a great buy!Read full review...

Knew someone that had one and liked it. They were satisfied with the picture quality and the ease of operation. So far it has been a very easy camera to use.

I love this camera. I own one and have bought one for my son. It is great to take pictures with for the things i sell on EBAY. Picture quality is top notch and it is small and very easy to use.
Shiny Pentax 50

Not good
Good features for the price, reasonably compact size and light weight but unreliable. Bought it used for my daughter. Lens stuck open within days of getting it.
