GH2 has the best sensor on the market!

There's just a cinematic quality to the image that no other camera can match. This camera can go toe to toe with the most expensive of cameras. My wish is that Panasonic creates a full frame sensor based on this camera. Read full review...

Decent camera

I use this as a second camera for video shoots. It's definitely Japanese with the over-complicated set-up. I do everything in post so all the gadgetry is wasted on me. The best- it is reliable and I can use the same 4/3 lens as my BMPCC. The worst - is a decent codec. I used Video jpeg and AVCHD 10/12 years ago. Hard to believe they are still around. I remember when Microsoft wanted to dump AVCHD, but camera manufacturers complained. Can't upgrade camera software as far as I can tell. Read full review...

Lumix DMC-GH2K

Good camera, lots of buttons to get direct access to various key functions
Swivel screen very useful, great eyepeice screen too
Great EV correction mechanism, easy and fast +/- 5EV is great
I do a lot of HDR so I like the ability to bracket 7 pictures
Forced to do 5 pictures to get +/- 2EV, would have liked 3 pictures for that like on my EOS 5 MK2
I would like to have more EV variation on Bracketing +/-2EV per step instead of one right now
Great 3 customs menus
Too bad cannot combine bracketing and 2s delayed picture as you have to buy the remote control in C1/C2/C3
I like the AE/AF lock button ergonomy as you can hit it without looking at it
I like the depth of field control capability and shutter speed effect control
I wish quick menu was more practical also it is not bad
Hight speed drive not available in bracketing, that is an issue when doing HDR without a tripod
Camera works well in Infrared, the control screen can be used at +5EV with manual focus (very cool)
Need to correct +1EV for standard Infrared picture
Besides that got the following lenses
8mm fisheye
7-14 zoom
14 2.5 prime (can do infrared) 46mm filter
20 1.7 prime (can do infrared) 46mm filter
45 2.8 Prime Macro (can do infrared) 46mm filter
Can travel with small Domke bag and this is light!!!!
And Gitzo Traveller 1550 (the best!) with Arco Swiss small head (can rotate and stay flat)

Plus 100-300 when needed

Begginer camera with Pro features.

For anyone starting out in photography, pictures or video, this is a GREAT camera. It can usually be bought on Ebay for under $400, body only. One of the camera's strong points is it's great video quality, and ability to use MANY different lenses. My lenses range from a $25 ictv lens, 25mm, f2.8, to a 50mm to 200mm, which translates to 100mm to 400mm, in micro 4/3rds talk. All the manual control you would ever want, and hackable to bring it up to near Hollywood level of filming. You can't go wrong with this camera. I am a newbie, and this camera has made me feel like a kid in a candy store.Read full review...

Meets all my needs at a reasonable price.

I bought two GH2 bodies after selling my two G1's. I am not really into video, but wanted the improved low-light capability of the GH2 while keeping the smaller body size. I really like the available control buttons on the GH2 and have turned off the touch screen, an option available under the latest firmware update. I have used this camera enough to be able to work the controls without looking at them which speeds up my use of the camera under changing conditions. If you want the absolute latest in performance, go for the GH4. If you want a convenient size with adequate performance at a reasonable price, get a GH2. I don't have any complaints about this camera, but I may not be as demanding a user as some people. I'm just an old guy who grew up with photography and wants to be able to control the camera to make the best images possible. This one works for me.Read full review...

This is SUPER camera, best quality body and lens, beutiful, really picture

Conclusion / Recommendation / Ratings are based on the opinion of the reviewer, you should read the ENTIRE review before coming to your own conclusions.

Images which can be viewed at a larger size have a small magnifying glass icon in the bottom right corner of the image, clicking on the image will display a larger (typically VGA) image in a new window.

To navigate the review simply use the next / previous page buttons, to jump to a particular section either pick the section from the drop down or select it from the navigation bar at the top.

DPReview calibrate their monitors using Color Vision OptiCal at the (fairly well accepted) PC normal gamma 2.2, this means that on our monitors we can make out the difference between all of the (computer generated) grayscale blocks below. We recommend to make the most of this review you should be able to see the difference (at least) between X,Y and Z and ideally A,B and C.

Incredible value to performance ratio!

Nearly a decade after release, the GH2 is still a killer camera once hacked. It has excellent 1080p video quality.

Great value for money, small, beats all the competition for video.

This is my second GH2. My interest is in video, scuba diving and travelling. Small is critical. Superb pictures is critical. I use it in a Nauticam housing, and with a variety of lenses. There is not much wrong with this camera, and when used in conjunction with Vitaliy Kiselev's hacks, it produces superb video. It's native lenses are pretty good and it can use almost any lens made in manual mode.
It's size and video quality leave Canon and Nikon in its wake and the Sony NEX7 is hamstrung by poor video and large lenses. This camera really hits the sweet spot if you are primarily a video person.

Good but Fragile build quality could be MUCH better and more rugged

Great Camera BUT fragile and I mean very Fragile the camera is great but build quality totally sucks IF you use this camera outdoors filming in a harsh inviroment it needs protection this is not well sealed and totally not shock proof like a pentax K5 or a canon 5D mk2
that said for Video this is AWESOME but treat it nice or it will break I know I have wrecked 2 of them and in my opinion they were not abused compared to the way i use my other gear.
I still film with a GH2 as it has great video performance but I will most likely change to a Nikon D800 as soon as I can get one for build quality

good camera / bad marketing

This camera is excellent in many ways, I already have a GH1, the GH2 has a higher resolution, touchscreen and some other bells and whistles, maybe the best part is the live view HDMI essential when working on videos with clients or focus assistants.
On the other hand I don't know why Panasonic did not include the DMW-DCC8 DC coupler cable, I need it to work with timelapses or long indoor recordings, on the GH1 it came boxed, not here. Worst is that the included battery doesn't charge, it keeps blinking and the 2 OEM batteries I bought chargewd only once and never again, it seems like the camera has an internal disabler for 3rd party batteries, so long my camera is boxed until I resolve this problem
