Inexpencive device to read ebooks.

This ereader shows ebooks well and has many other features that may be helpful if needed occasionally.

As an ereader, it has some limitations (no manual page rotation - only with g-sensor, notes and bookmarks are quite basic, problems with title pages, etc.), but it does what it is supposed to do. You can load thousands of pages in this small device (and with this device loading is as simple as possible) and take them with you almost anywhere (it does fit in a back pocket, although just barely, and it is inexpensive enough to allow some risk and abuse).

I was a little disappointed with the low contrast of the screen. However, when I tried Sony PRS‑T1 (which is considered to be a better but more expensive alternative), I did not notice any significant difference in the screen contrast.

All other features this device has are quite basic. Browser handles many sites, even with JavaScript, but does not work on many occasions as well. Most disappointing, it could not handle authentication for a free internet in an airport and for my email website. The e-mail application of the reader works (it can handle IMAP and several accounts), but it is very slow and inconvenient. The other features are not convenient enough to consider them seriously. But if someone wants to get an idea of usability of a tablet before buying an expensive model, this ereader may be able to help.

Good Value for the money.

I use this mostly for book reading but it can do more. It is light weight and can fit in my coat pocket. Easy to download and can hold a lot of books. Very easy to operate and the battery life is good enough to keep me occupied while flying or waiting for appointments (Dr.'s office, DMV etc.) It seems to be able to do night reading but I haven't figured that out yet. Too bad it is not in color - but I knew that going in. I have other reader/wifi pads that I use for surfing and viewing videos but it is too heavy for a reader and takes much longer to start-up. All in all I like this very much. For the convenience and the price point it is well worth it.Read full review...

Cheaper then ever

Have you seen so cheap but new and quality e-ink eReader ever? Yes, it has no so good display as e-ink Pearl and even Vizplex looks significantly better. But it is still ePaper display type, with the same main pros and cons as any other eInk.
That means in good luminance, especially sunlight, you will perfectly see contrast text, but for the price of slow screen updates.
This eReader worth its price, but if you can afford Vizplex or Pearl screen model, buy that one.
For Russian speaking users: Эта книга выходила в России под маркой Onext Touch&Read 001, прошивка от которой отлично подходит к этой читалке. В итоге у вас появляется поддержка FB2, но пропадает магазин B&N и кажется браузер вообще перестаёт работать.

Great value for the money.

I wasn't really expecting much for the $25 I paid for he unit but what I got was very pleasing. This unit is great while reading Epub files, a little annoying with PDF's. The E Ink touch screen is very responsive and close to the quality I have on my first edition Nook. The battery life is as well on par with my Nook. I average 10 hours on both. This is a great eReader for the money if your goal is just for reading books. I wouldn't both with much else on it, the CPU is to slow for internet browsing.Read full review...

Very good product for the price!

The price is what lead me to buy this. I have a 79 dollar Kindle and bought this to excess B&N books and to use when my wife is reading a book on the Kindle. Before it arrived I wondered I it was a bargain or bust. I was better then I expected! Compared to the Kindle the page turn speed is the same, the contrast is not as high but is not a problem for me, It fits my hand better (large hand)and shows page numbers , date and time. The battery life is not as good as the Kindle. I enjoy reading with Novel and for the price it is an excellent buy !Read full review...

a good, cheap e-reader, but nothing more

This reader has an e-paper display, so it only uses power when drawing the screen. As a result, the battery life is quite good. The rest of the tablet is waaaaay out of date; the browser is rubbish (and hideously slow); the screen is black and white so the photo viewer is sort of pointless. I have no idea if the music player is any good. It does play the included sample mp3 file successfully. So leave the wifi turned off and forget using the browser.

I use epub as my preferred ebook format. This reader handles it well, and allows scaling the text to several different sizes to accommodate your vision and preference. I use the open source program Calibre to convert other ebook formats to epub.

I like this because it's small, so it doesn't take up much space in my carry-on luggage, and it's cheap, so no big deal if it's lost or damaged, and the battery life is good, so you can read for hours on a long flight without a re-charge.

Good for the cost

You pretty much get what you pay for. This is no kindle but it does have a lot of features. My main complaint is that it takes forever to load. We tried uploading a bunch of previously purchased books and it took over an hour for the thing to recognize them. It just sat there "thinking" and wouldn't let us do anything else. I suggest loading a few books that you know you will read right away and then when you are done loading some more. That's the way we have to do it in order for it to work.Read full review...

Best device you will ever had! Perfect price!

I just got this device yesterday, and it is AMAZING. I never thought this black and white screen would be good but even with pictures it is so detailed that it practically looks like it has color. With eBooks, you would think that you wouldn't get a lot of space. Well, I have 278 books and still have space left over. And the books are like 400 pages EACH. Very well worth it, especially right now at Big Lots. I got it yesterday unexpectedly because it was regularly $69 but now its $20. Very well recommended. You will fall in love with the sodoku that is preloaded. Plus with Browser and e-mail.Read full review...

This one kicks butt on the Nook and Kindle!

I have owned a Kindle 3, Nook 1st edition, and now the pandigital (Barnes and Noble edition). I prefer the pandigital the most. It has an e paper display that is super easy to read even in sun light. The response of the touch screen is a little slow, but I would rather have it that way than overly sensitive. It's 2GB expandable up to 32GB and is compatible with Nook books or adobe ebooks. It has wifi, email, web browser, and even built in Sudoku. You can't go wrong with this.

Only con I could find is that sometimes it will freeze up and require resetting. When you do reset, it tends to go back to a page way before where you were reading.
