Cat Tale
The problem with both kittens and kids is that they are often getting into trouble, despite your best care-giver efforts. This book still resonates with me now that I am just the "staff." In the story, Tom and his sisters are indeed very naughty and poor mother cat has visitors, too. How embarassing! Of course, there is a gentle lesson for the young reader - to behave properly and do as you are asked. This book can certainly be read by a young reader or shared with them by a parent. A great way to learn to read.
Beatrix Potter's tales(esp: Peter Rabbit and Tom Kitten) remind me of the grief my siblings and I put my mom through when we were youngsters. Alas, I also remember that time as a special time because Mom spent time with me reading these little stories. And what great and interesting stories, too. The pictures were interesting, too.
I bought this book because I like cats, love her illustrations, and am a fan of Beatrix Potter, in general. I have a couple of her other tales which I found at a rummage sale. That "find" got me interested in checking out some of her other tales. Her stories are fun to read and I can understand why they are still so popular today. Beatrix created an entertaining world when she wrote for her family and I am glad she chose to shared that world with the rest of us.Read full review...
