Led Zeppelin Physical Graffiti review

As one would expect from the late great Led Zeppelin English rock band from the 1960's/1970's era, Physical Graffiti is in my opinion a masterfully crafted album in sound, technique and creativity. Being a fan of the band for over 25 years, I can say this LP is just another testament to their talent and ambition appealing to discriminating tastes all over the world. Just as I enjoy and appreciate all the Led Zeppelin releases, Physical Graffiti is no exception and I will continue listening to it for years to come.Read full review...

Probably Page's Best Work

This double album actually warranted being issued as a double album. No filler here! The band was in top form. The rhythm section of Bonham and Jones was swinging for the fences, Plant's banshee wail hadn't faded at the high end yet, and Page showed a mastery of his Gibson that mere mortals are not capable of. "Down By The Seaside" is a great example of a Zep song that just doesn't get the airplay it deserves. The shimmering liquidity of the guitar work on this track is probably one of the greatest examples of an instrument representing water ever laid down in a studio. The epic drone and Middle Eastern flavor of "Kashmir" needs no comment. "Night Flight" and "Boogie With Stu" are typical of Zeppelin in that they aren't like anything any other band at the time dared to put out. If you wish to introduce someone to the grand majesty of Led Zeppelin, this is a great place to start. Not a single dud, hard rockin' tracks, and some of their mellower material as well. It really shows the great versatility these rock gods possessed in their collective abilities. In my opinion, it is a better album for the beginning Led Zeppelin fan than their unnamed fourth album (Zoso) if only because they will probably not be as familiar with every track and the quality of the music is much more representative of their total career output. Enjoy!Read full review...

Led Zep's best album and well mastered to CD

This is (IMHO) Led Zep's most well-rounded album. My original tape of it has died and I wanted to listen to it from a CD, not Mp3. It has some of their greatest songs, including the inimitable "Kashmir," but it also features much less expected tracks, such as "10 years gone" and numerous acoustic tracks that seem to be the band at their most honest. A wonderful insight into what really made the band tick and also a good reflection of the scope of their work, from early blues covers through to the psych rock of their later releases. A good album to listen to through quality headphones and up loud: nostalgic even for those of us who didn't hear it on first release!! While some laud later albums such as Presence and ITTOD and others love Zep 1, 2 and 3, Physical Graffiti offers a great balance that all fans should love. Check out Bonzo's kick pedal work on the 2nd half of "In My Time of Dying"!Read full review...

Last of the greats!

I had this album when it came out and I had forgotten how good it is. I still feel this was the last music Zep did in the original vein.
