Pioneer Elite Truely Elite

When I was looking at dvd players to buy. I wanted something higher end that would last more then a year or two. Not to mention it gets old cleaning the laser eye every couple movies on a standard player. Since Pioneer has always been a great brand, I looked into there higher end Elite series. I found two players I was really looking at. The Dv-49 and the DV-46. Which both have laser eyes that close when shut down so dust doesn't collect on the eye of the player. I decided on the DV-46 because my tv only supports 720I. But the player can up convert to 1080I or 720P.Even though I bought the player used it looked like new. There are so many features in a higher end dvd player that I have never seen. Like you can set your speaker distance just like on a av receiver, or adjust the sharpness and color on the player instead of the tv. Setup is a snap, once you get up and going you can see a huge difference. The picture quality is a amazing. The only thing that I found wrong is if your playing super cd's you have to use the 5.1 inputs to your amp to get the signal to pass through correctly. Other then that great buy, couldn't ask for a better player.
If I was a person with a newer tv I would look at the DV-49 instead of the DV-46. Because it does up convert to 1080P. Plus some newer features. But this player is still very good.Read full review...

Versatile DVD / CD / HDCD player

The Pioneer Elite is a top quality line of products and the DV-46AV is one of their most versatile players. I researched the features of many CD players before making a purchase and found the Pioneer Elite to have the most features in one unit at the best price. Why buy several different units when you can get a DVD, CD, and HDCD player all in one and in a qualty unit at that. You may pay a little more for the initial purchase but you only have to buy one piece of equipment. The build quality is excellent and the unit is compact. Great as a cd, sacd, have an amazing performance

I used as a music player and sounds amazing with my Onkyo AVR, great sound and picture, but remember is a almost vintage so have in mind that, and it's build to last great product from Elite series

Nice unit for SACD

I enjoy listening to SACD's with this unit. I have a home theater receiver with analog inputs which is required for SACD surround sound. I have adjusted the size of the surround speakers and have to turn up the subwoofer to get the level of bass I like but other than that it works very wellRead full review...

I got this primarily to play SA-CDs but to my disappointment it only outputs to analog so can not use the HDMI and cannot use analog because my AVR does not support the old analog inputs.

Cant say much more. Best DVD player I have ever owned. Sooo many options within this DVD player. Sound is soo much better then my standard Pioneer DVD player!!! Get one you wont be disappointed.
