vsx d711 absolute beast of a receiver/aplifier

absolute beast with 500 watts to drive 5 channels plus a subwoofer. clean power and sound/many connection options. has treble/bass adjustments. they just don't make 'em like this anymore. video processing is limited to component hookups at best(no hdmi given the 19 year age), but for audio and for what they sell for ($35.00 -50.00) this simply cannot be beaten.Read full review...

A pure reciever with a minimum of duties making it simpler to use and fix.

I bought this mainly to improve it's reliability and I prefer the VSX-D family.
I find that these amplifiers that don't use cooling fans that are turned on by an average music power level as it is being played does not account for idle heat which damages connections and can shut it down making you think it is broken.
I also like this family because it has my preferred digital inputs, S-video, component video, and most of all they don't have any of that extra fancy stuff like hdmi, sirius, xm, I-pad-pod, surround back(sorry Dolby, 5.1 is enough) and the like.
These receivers do a very good job rather it be watching Dvd's, Online content when used with a PC that has a digital output even on an older creative sound blaster live 4 or 5.1 ,it doesn't matter which when using the front channel D-out with a headphone to rca. Of course you can always play console games through it.
A great many receivers have come after this family. I feel a lot of them were made in haste to accommodate trendy technology which may not last just to keep the cash flow coming.
It is a pure amplifier with a minimum of duties making it simpler to use, fix if needed, and enjoy.
Please note that my first Pioneer is a D411 which is still very much alive and has never had a failed part. Also remember that these units are designed more to deliver deep, rich sound at lower volume levels. I have never used any of my amps at max because I enjoy my hearing and my equipment.

Why I bought the Pioneer Receiver

I have always liked Pioneer A/V Receivers because they had a good sound for a cheaper price. I got my VSX D457 on sale for $200.00 about 7 years ago. After many hours of use the Remote pickup and volume control faded out. This was a 100 Watt system. I couldn't afford the upgrade so it was great to get this VSX D711 500 Watt Receiver for less than $100.00 used lightly for two years. It has all the features the D457 had and more. I like it because more is on the remote and the whole machine is set up better. Plus 5X the power.
I bought it for the price, the honesty of the seller and because I like Pioneer.

Happy Pioneer

I was a little skeptical to purchase at first but I decided to do so and I'm happy I did. The sound is nice. I gave it a 4 star rating because the cover that conceals the push buttons gets a little hung up. I am pleased with my purchase.Read full review...

Great sound and handles all of the peripherals

I had a Pioneer VSX-D711 5.1ch Surround Sound 500W A/V Receiver w/ Pro Logic II that lost it's left channel. I liked everything about this receiver so that when I found another on-line I didn't hesitate to buy it. The sound is clear and powerful, both lows and highs. Surround is great for movies and music alike and finally, it is easy to use once you've had time to read the user's manual and monkey around with it for a while.Read full review...
