Short Game with lots of Nostalgia

I've been buying up old Nintendo 64 games to play and Pokemon Snap was probably the first to disappoint. It took me just under an hour to beat this game. However, I could see a new player(Adult) play for 2-3 hours trying to find all the different Pokemon and snapping the highest scoring pictures.

The amount of Pokemon in the game is about 60+ I think. Half of them require special tricks/puzzles in order for the Pokemon to reveal themselves for glamorous photo ops.

The photography game play is very unique and fun. Although, the scoring system favors front facing profile shots so you can't be 'artsy' with your photos.

Compared to most Nintendo 64 games at the same price, This one is just too short. I'd only recommend buying this game if your a fan of Pokemon and old Nintendo games.

Too many stickers on it but great game!

This game had a ton of stickers on it. Almost makes me wish I had purchased a different version but with that said I wouldn't have had as good of a deal as I did with this game cartridge. Thanks! Awesome game!Read full review...

Pokemon Snap (Nintendo 64)

We bought this game on the recommendation of an adult cousin who's a photographer and proclaimed this to be the best N64 game he'd ever played. My 9-year old son is a huge Pokemon fan and had a great time with this game. The object of the game is to get the best photos of Pokemon during safaris that you take through different types of landscapes. There are puzzles and challenges to do during gameplay that keep it interesting. I must admit that it's engaging to try to get better and better photos and close-ups (the higher-quality the photo, the more points are earned). We wish the levels were a little longer. The camera control could also be a little smoother. Other than that, it's good fun.Read full review...

SNAP!

PROS

The idea of this game is for you to take pictures of the various Pokemon in their natural environments. You ride through in a little cart snapping pictures of Pokemon who pop up in a variety of places. You bring these pictures back to Professor Oak who will critique them. You receive points on the quality of your pictures. Your pictures should be centered, the character facing you and extra points given if they are involved in some funny animation.

There is no violence in this game (well, I think a few birds tease Meowth and he passes out).

The graphics are excellent, very colorful with lots of cute detailing. There are volcanoes that you will pass, that are overflowing with lava, caves with passages and streams that pass lots of interesting landscape. If you get close to the Pokemon, you can hear them “speak” at times.

From the colorful artwork to the sound of the camera shutter, this game is very entertaining.

CONS

You can only have one person play at a time. You can not save multiple persons files.

Pokemon Snap

A friend of mine had this game and I really liked playing it. So I finally bought myself one, as I did with Starfox 64 and Mario Kart 64. It's a pretty short game. You go to different locations to take pictures of Pokemon, to complete an area you need a picture of every Pokemon in that area but you get them all right away, as the game progresses, you get items that help you to lure certain Pokemon out, like the Apple, Smoke Ball, and Pokeflute. To get to these, you need a certain amount of Pokemon pictures taken, as well as opening new areas. And to get a couple new areas, you need to open a secret path from another area. After completing a certain amount, you have to find Pokemon 'signs', there's one in every area, doing so opens up the last level, where you can take pictures of Mew... its the only one there but it's hard to do, though you can just keep coming back. You ride in a vehicle that goes on land, water, and can fly, it goes automatically so you can focus on taking pictures. You can have only one of each Pokemon's picture to get the points on, but you can put pictures you like in your album to look at.Read full review...

Nostalgic value

A fun game about capturing pokemon in pictures rather than pokeballs. There are little secrets and hidden pokemon in each level so replay value is really high. It brings me back to the original 150 which is what I grew up with and that may be why I like this game so much. If you like pictures and pokemon, enough said.Read full review...

Short, but a Blast!

I played this when it first came out (I am 38 now). I can't help it-I like Pokemon, what can I say? The concept is very different, and it is easy for any age, really-but to be honest, getting maximum points for the best shots possible takes some skill! Especially when trying to catch pictures of Pokemon that zip by really fast! The only gripe I EVER had about the game was that it was a little on the short side, and like any game, it gets old after awhile, but if you haven't played it in a long time or have never played it, it's easy to spend hours on end taking pictures of Pokemon. I highly recommend it for any age, and I can certainly think of a hundred garbage titles for Nintendo 64 that are infinitely worse than this one.Read full review...

Oh SNAP!!

Having grown up with Pokemon, it's always had a special place in my heart. This game is nothing like the Pokemon RPGs for Gameboy. But it's still incredible!! A bit on the easy side, this game can be beaten in an evening. Nevertheless, it's still a worthwhile trip. You get to roam around and take pictures of Pokemon. It's actually more exciting then it sounds. However, due to the brevity of the game, as well as its easy nature, don't pay more than $7 for this title.Read full review...

Great game for it's time and evermore!

I love this game. It's so different! But of coarse that's what Nintendo is known for. I Pokemon lovers and haters alike can spend hours and hours on this game. Not to mention a few cool items that make the Pokemon do different things when used. I remember playing this game when it first came out, how exiting it was to play a photography game! And the movements are soooo real!
This game is funny too. Picture this; your sitting in a automatic convoy car, it's creepy, there are Haunters Eclectobuzz, and Electrode everywhere. Even a mysterious egg? And then you look past the autodoor after the Zubat rushes by and... you see a Pikachu laughing and having fun with a Diglett.
This game is just a fun, diverse, N64 classic. Nuff said.
However, the only way I could give this game a 5/5 rating, is if it had a better story.

Picture Perfect!

Pokemon Snap is a child-friendly rail-shooting game released in 1999 for the Nintendo 64. In this game it is put upon you by Professor Oak to take photos of all the Pokemon living on his island.
r>This game is extremely fun to play, and it is not difficult at all. Using the joystick to turn the camera, you can snap photos of tons of cute Pokemon, who will come out to see you! You can even throw apples to them and watch them eat happily. This is a game that is fun for all ages, as there is no violence to speak of, and it's just too darn cute to resist!

I decided to pick up this game because I remember how much fun I used to have playing it. Whenever a friend came over we'd sit and play for hours, fighting over who got the controller next.

I absolutely recommend this game. I guarantee that whether you're 8 or 38 you will enjoy this fun photo shooting game!Read full review...

a fun ride through the world of pokemon, Bring your camera!

Pokemon snap is a fun pokemon console game for the nintendo 64 in which you ride a cart on a set of tracks and take photographs of certain of the original 150 pokemon during the course of the game you are challenged to take better pictures and find hidden pokemon to add to your album which opens up new levels for the player sometimes you have to find a secret passage in order to progress in the game and find special pokemon signs. also throughout the game play you unlock different features for your cart such as being able to throw certain items or use a pokeflute to get different shots of certain pokemon this game culminates with a hunt to capture a picture of the final and most elusive pokemon from the orignal game. This game is fun for young people and older pokemon fans although it is not a particularly challenging game for an experienced gamer the joy of this unique game is seeing the pokemon in their "natural state" and discovering all of the cute pokemon poses and trying to capture them on your camera. Lastly I would say that the last time I played snap i finished it in under two hours just to give you an idea of challenge level of this game.Read full review...
