Best new crooner since Bing Crosby

I have always considered myself a lover of most music. As a rule my musical taste leans towards alternative rock, soul/R&B some classical and even an opera or two. One day I was watching the Ellen show and her musical guest was Rufus Wainright. My goodness what low toned , pitch perfect vocals with strong guitars and drums. Crooning, now and in this time within this genre. I was taken !! Needless to say I am now a Wainright fan. Crooning at its' best and not the golden years of Frankie , Bing and the like. I am going to test drive some of his other music. If you like a strong deep voice that croons out distinctively uncharacteristic music then Rufus is for you. This album Poses has a wonderful diversity of earthy PoP with a somewhat country twist in it. JUST GREAT !! am glad that I added it to my music library.Read full review...

Absolutely Beautiful

Rufus Wainwright is one of the great musicians of our time. He does not stick to one style of music, and he is never afraid to do something out of the ordinary. Poses, his second album, is no exception.

Although the Want albums are Wainwright's crowning achievements at this point, Poses has a breathtaking simplicity and honest introspection to it (particularly the title track) that set it high and above today's contemporary music.

Be warned: the sound is different. With the exception of "Cigarettes and Chocolate Milk" I liked none of the other songs immediately. Upon two or three listenings however, the each of the songs' brilliance begins to be apparent. No two songs on the disc are alike. From the pop-friendly "California" to the tender "Poses" to the exotic "Greek Song", Rufus displays his amazing diversity.

Poses is a perfect album for someone new to Rufus Wainwright's music, and a must for any fan.

Awesome

Rufus Wainwright has an absolutely gorgeous voice and I could listen to him sing all day no matter how terrible the songs were. Luckily for me his songs are just as wonderful as his voice! Poses is such an incredible CD, no two songs really sound alike. Rufus is one of those artists that has the great ability to have such a varied style. I will admit that with some of the songs it took multiple listens before I really fell in love (Greek Song, Poses, Grey Gardens, The Consort) but none of the songs disappointed.

I strongly recommend this CD to anyone and challeneg you not to love it.

Awesome CD to chill to when you're having a bad day

Rufus Wainwright has a very soothing voice to unwind to after a stressful day. He inspires me when I'm writing a story, or when I just need to relax. I haven't tried it yet, but great bathrub music I would think. I think this is the best out of all his CD's, Poses.Read full review...

Rufus Wainwright: Poses = love

I bought this CD a couple of weeks ago and I can't stop listening to it - really great music. I highly recommend it. I have quite a few Rufus Wainwright CDs and this one is by far my favorite.

Poses

How this album couldn't have been finacially successful I dont know... A breath of fresh air, although melancholy air... Cigarettes and chocolate milk ... what more can I say
