Great 'second half' to the first hardcover book.

Let's get some quick points out of the way. Preacher is not for children, is funny, over the top, somewhat violent and doesn't pull punches in terms of swearing.

It may be slightly cliche, but if you like Pulp Fiction you'll probably love Preacher.

The overall story is about a Preacher (of sorts), Jesse, that gets possessed by an offspring of an angel and a demon, which has powers that can rival God. Jesse also has his on again off again girlfriend and best friend Cassidy (an Irish Vampire) along in tow. His mission is to find God and make him answer for the bad things in the world.

The book two storyline is about a continuation of a cliffhanger left in book one (hardcover), where a secret society has come into the picture.

Book two does not end on a cliffhanger however, and makes an excellent "second half" to the first book. If you're planning on buying only a few of these, it getting books one and two would be a great start.

I am somewhat new to the world of comics / graphic novels however I'm fast becoming a fan. I've gotten through Watchmen, The Nightly News, AVX, Sin City, 100 Bullets, Hellblazer and more.

Personally I feel Preacher is not only the best, but beats them hands down. Preacher, to me, feels like an adult themed comic should. It's not just the violence or sex, it's the way the characters speak, the way they interact. It feels more 'real' than any other comic, or even dare I say book period.

I originally purchased the trade paperback on a whim, and then very swiftly purchased all 6 of the hardcovers and have not regretted it.

If you think your the target audience for these books, buy the first 2 hardcovers and I dare say you'll enjoy every minute.
