Pride of Baghdad
I have a thing for lions. They're a great medium for displaying human behavior sometimes.
This graphic novel is quite rough and heartbreaking most of the way through. Each line of dialog has some kind of significant metaphor or allegory relating to the Nature of Freedom itself, and responsibility, purpose and drive in life. Each character represents some aspect of Liberalism Vs. Conservatism, Humanist self-interest, Tyranny, thoughtless killing, etc..
It's altogether heartbreaking, but at the same time evocative of thought and self-reflection about one's drives and position in life. In the end, strangely uplifting and empowering.Read full review...
