EXPENSIVE BUT SO WORTH EVERY PENNY!

I'm homebound & Christmas 2015, a close friend got me started on coloring adult, this order was @a smaller sized of #48 Prismacolor Set of the colored pencils. I purchased these to be able to travel back & forth to doctor's appointments. They are a lot more expensive BUT IN THE LONG RUN, THEY'RE WORTH EVERY PENNY B/C THUS FAR I'VE NOT HAD EVEN ONE OF THESE TO HAVE THE LEAD TO BREAK & SHARPENING IS A BREEZE! I've ACTUALLY SAVED $$ in the LONG RUN! Plus, I've also found that if I keep a close check on them on different websites, I save money by either bidding & winning at a great price! I've tried other brands too & they're ok, but for someone like me who's homebound & wheelchair bound & having to rely on others to go anywhere(even dr appts.), I feel I deserve to @least buy these to color with. So, for now, I still couldn't be HAPPIER! U CANNOT GO WRONG WITH THIS BRAND, NO MATTER THE SIZE OF SET U PURCHASE, even if u find a gently used set as I have to restock some colossal I've already used up! Plus, in this order I also received a Prismacolor pencil sharpener w/the order & I'm VERY HAPPY WITH IT TOO & FEEL IT'S ABSOLUTELY PERFECT W/ALL THE PRISMACOLOR PENCILS TOO! ABSOLUTELY ECSTATIC OVER ALL OF THE PRISMACOLOR ITEMS I'VE BEEN EXPOSED TO THUS FAR!! HAPPY COLORING!!!!Read full review...

Difficult to use, especially for large designs.

These might be good for a young artist. I found them difficult to use, maybe because I am a senior citizen and found it hard to "press" down for so long and not get much color. You really have to go over and over the color to get a good blend, dark color.

I would recommend markers over these colored pencils.

Prismacolors are are a MUST HAVE

Prismacolor pencils are probably the best wax cored pencils on the market. They lay down vibrant pigment and are extremely easy to blend, especially if you use a bit of solvent. I like that they are able to be replaced individually in most large chain crafting stores. I have asked for a larger set for my next birthday because I find myself using these on my projects every single day. No matter what other medium I am using or whatever other set of pencils I am using, I always reach for certain colors from my Prismacolors because the colors are true and they do not leave a heavy waxy buildup even with lots of layering. My only 2 negative comment is
1. I wish there were more browns.. I imagine the larger sets have more options. Like I said, I can buy individual colors at will, with Prismacolor pencils, so it works itself out.
2. Because these are softcore pencils the leads will break easily so I suggest having a mat under your work station because breaking them does happen. and a mat helps to cushion the blow more than you would think.
I will purchase these again in the future with no hesitation.

My friend loves these Prismacolor Color Pencils!!!!

I bought these as a gift for a friend who's into adult coloring books. She had complained about the quality of cheaper-quality colored pencils and how few of them had gold and silver included in their sets. I told her about how I'd used Prismacolor color pencils in the past and that she'd like the 48-count set. Long story short, I bought them for my friend and she loves them. She loves the quality so much that she'd informed me that she'd never again settle for cheap, inferior color pencils.Read full review...

Solid art pencils

I order the set for my daughter who loves to draw with colored pencils. The quality is pretty good. You only have to be careful when sharpening them, it is easy to break the lead.

Great pencils.

I love prismacolors premier colored pencils but their too expensive for my taste. Very grateful I was able to get these at great deal. The tin was a little dented (probably Usps to blame) but all the pencils were in tact. The colors are just enough to get started though I had to buy some gray tones separate.Read full review...

Great pencils at a terrific price

Prismacolor pencils are excellent - color rich with a waxy consistency, they can be used to create beautiful effects on their own or in mixed media work. The price for this set was very reasonable - about half the cost of other outlets - a very good deal.Read full review...

These are great!

I had some cheaper colored pencils and was not getting the result I wanted. These are so much better. The colors are vibrant and I don't have to go over my artwork multiple times to get rich color. I wish I had purchased them sooner. Read full review...

Their reputation has been earned

These are known as the premiere coloring pencils and that reputation is well deserved. The most important feature to me is the vivid color that is easy to apply due to the softer leads. The lead does not wear down too fast, however, and they do sharpen evenly and fast without having to take too much of the pencil.Read full review...

Try em, You’ll love em

I know this brand is more expensive then the rest but there’s a reason for that. These are top notch quality. The pencils lay down color is amazing, almost like coloring crayons. They sharpen without breaking, that alone is worth it, not sharpening down to the nub. They are worth every penny.

My mother the artist

My mother is an artist. She is 87 years this year. At Christmas she had a mini-stroke and was diagnosed with Dementia. Her short term memory is difficult but my brother, whom she lives with, said that the moment mom opened her Prismacolor pencils she transformed. Mom was drawing in minutes with a steady hand. Her first drawing was of her 3 year old grandson. Prismacolor pencils were THE BEST coloured pencil when she was a girl in Cambria, CA, when she taught her art students on the Arizona reservation in the 40s, and when she taught art to her own children. She is in paradise.

Needless to say, I love these pencils. They are soft, blend the best of all color pencils, and by using simple pressure your color can be pastel or dark.
