Psycho (DVD, 2008)

This 1960 film ushered in the genre of the true horror film. It delved into the psyche of a truly insane man who had developed a split personality. Norman Bates, (Anthony Perkins), is a reclusive motel owner on a long ago by-passed highway. His mother, who is long dead, is his other totally assumed personality. He slips from one person to the other, even down to dressing and talking like the the personality. He has conjured up this situation where he is actually jealous of his mother's life and she is jealous of his. All be it in the same mind, and both willing to kill anyone who stumbles into their presence. Janet Leigh plays a woman on the run with $40,000 in stolen money heading to her boyfriend in California. She stumbles into the Bates Motel, and never leaves! In a 45-second shower scene she is stabbed to death by Norman's mother, because he is sexually interested in her. As it turns out, Norman and Mother are the same person, and when eventually caught, it is revealed that three other murders were similarly commited.Read full review...

Psycho ( DVD, 2-Disc Set, Special Edition, Universal Legacy Edition)

This is the movie that changed Cinema forever. Those changes were: the FIRST movie ever that depicted a flushing toilet, apparently people never done that before 1960, and the protagonist is no longer in the picture after the first 40 minutes. This movie was by far the best feature directed by the late, great Sir Alfred Hitchcock, and a must-see for anyone who studies film as a hobby or professionally. The Special Features are thorough and are worth viewing. 5-Star productions.Read full review...

Excellent!!!

Hitch's first foray at the true "horror" film, Psycho paved the way for the films we have today. The film has been restored and looks great. And the bonus features were as riveting as the movie itself. I love DVDs that include the documentaries on making the movie. This one does not disappoint. Highly recommended!Read full review...

"Hitchcock Thriller Classic!"

Anthony Perkins and Janet Leigh star in Alfred
Hitchcock's 1960 thriller based on the novel.
A woman steals money and falls victim to
an insane motel clerk. This is definitely
one of Hitchcock's best and Anthony was
terrific as Norman Bates. This dvd set
has good picture and sound plus neat
extras. Get this classic.

A Classic!!!!!

A timeless classic of what a thriller should be. While horror movies today do nothing but cover characters in blood and guts, the real horror is knowing that someone right next door could be a psychopath. Anthony Perkins is a surperb actor and while this movie scared the life out of me when i was young, i see it with a new fascination and respect. This man made the movie what it is and i watch it repeatedly. (and i lock the bathroom door when i shower)Read full review...

Psycho

Probably the most famous horror film ever, "Psycho" revolutionized the world of pop culture. The infamous shower scene traumatized the whole nation into taking baths. Great work by Alfred Hitchcock who was a master of suspense. Also notable are Anthony Perkin's and Janet Leigh's performances and Bernard Herman's score. Highly recommend!!!Read full review...
