A rare Christopher Walken role:

I bought this movie for my daughter, who is now 24 and saw the movie many years ago. I don't understand why the 2005 is the date but that is maybe because the DVD version of the original VHS was just made. Here is my daughter's review:

This movie was a gift to me for Christmas, and it immediately took me back to the addictively cheesy "made for TV movie" days of the 80's. If not for anything else, just to see Christopher Walken in the bizarre and entertaining role of Puss in Boots, this movie is a rare find. He sings and dances along with the other characters in this fairytale with a corny sense of humor. The special effects and overall fairytale style of the movie are very mid 80's, but anyone who can appreciate that cheesiness will get a kick out of this movie. Todays children might not recognize the difference in the easy pace of plot, and simple acting - but for anyone over 21 - this will make you smile with the sheer silliness of it - and again, Christopher Walken is well........Christopher Walken!!!Read full review...

Puss in Boots, 2005 DVD

I have always been enchanted by the fairy tale of "Puss in Boots," and this one adheres to the synopsis of the original printed story.

Christopher Walken is a pure delight, as Puss, and exhibits his many talents, that include singing and dancing, as well as acting, and comedic timing.

The costumes, make-up, lighting, cinematography, choreography, and all aspects that go into the making of a musical film, is spot- on, with a continuity that holds interest for the viewer.

The current version of this tale strays greatly, from the original story, and I would hope that every child has the opportunity to read, or have read to them, the original, and also, to see this enchantingly delightful musical version.

I enthusiastically give a 5-star rating, to this 2005 DVD production, "Puss in Boots," which, by the way, is out-of-print, so make haste, and order your copy as soon as possible....!

Wonderful Movie

The movie itself is entirely entertaining for everyone in the family. Great performance by every actor. I wish I had the whole collection and I wish they had been able to make more.

Good Movie of an old Tale

What a Bore!

I am a fan of Shelley Duvall's approach to bringing childrens' classics to the screen. Unfortunately, I thought this would be of the same caliber because it stars Christopher Walken. I was very disappointed. The story is a musical, which I didn't realize. Rafi's music wasn't anything special. I doubt my great niece or nephew will be able to sit through it and they're 3 and 4. If they were older, I still don't think it would keep their attention. It just isn't sophisticated enough.Read full review...

I saw this movie as a young girl and have loved Christopher Walken ever since. I thought it was some obscure movie, and I was surprised to find it as an adult. It is still a rare gem to me. The movie is sweet, funny, silly, wonderful, magical, romantic, dated in a charming way, and a must see for all those who enjoy family movies.
