Best Raw unCookbook!

Of all my raw unCookbooks this is my favorite. When I first went raw this book helped me through the transition of just eating copious amounts of salads and crudite vegetables to venturing into the world of real raw recipes.

The book is well written, the ingredients are simple, easy to find, and most of the dishes rely on the same basic ingredients and spices, making it easy to always feel like your kitchen is well stocked and ready to prepare any of the recipes in the book without a major grocery trip.

Many of this book's recipes can be made with a blender and a sharp knife, though having a food processor and dehydrator enable to make everything in the book. Nothing is overly complicated in Rawvolution, making it great for beginner raw foodists and chefs!

You'll appreciate the creativity and ingenuity, as well as the familiarity of the foods. Chili, egg salad, tomato basil soup, tacos... They are your favorite comfort foods redesigned and raw. Pretty awesome. Er, Rawsome.

One important note: I have found the all the recipes are consistently heavy handed in the garlic, nama shoyu, and salt quantities. I cut the quantity in half (sometimes even less) and then work up from there if needed (usually not). For example, if the recipe calls for 3-4 cloves of garlic I use 1, 1 tsp of sale I use 1/4, 1/4 cup of nama shoyu and I use 1/8 c and 1/8 c water to dilute it. Otherwise I find the dishes much to overpowered.

Only recipe I didn't like? The celery soup. Everything else was awesome.
Some of the desserts were a little sweet and required some tweaking. The chili is my favorite recipe to date of all my books!

Soy sauce overload

At least half of recipes call for soy sauce - an expensive type - The nut loaf recipe uses over a cup! Soy sauce contains gluten and lots of salt... not the healthy I was going for. This one is going in the donation box.Read full review...

Simple and the Best!

I probably have twenty raw food recipe books, but this is the one I should have bought first. He explains everything quite simply, as well as provides beautiful pictures of many of the dishes. There is a section that suggests what should be in the raw kitchen; this is the most simple list of necessities out there. He also tells his raw story, which is always interesting to read about. Wonderful resource!Read full review...
