Roden 1/144 C-5B Galaxy: nice model with a few shortcomings
Roden has produced a superb model of both the C-5B and C-5M "Galaxy" aircraft. The model will build out to an impressive 20" length and features light and heavier panel line scribing in appropriate areas. A suitably detailed cockpit is provided, but you won't see much of it when the canopy "glass" goes in. The wings feature excellent scribed lines and allow for the flaps to be assembled in drooped position (the leading edge slats are moulded in raised configuration). To make them closed (raised) requires the removal of several locatiing pins/"nubs." The engines and decals are a disappointment. The engine cowling inlet doors are moulded as bumps whereas they ought to be scribed panels. The profile of each engine and pylon is slightly "off" but livable. The decals are not great; delicate lines are "wavy," colour printing of one of the national insignia is incomplete and several of the stencils/markings are simply little blobs. Better to go with an after-market set of decals. Altogether, a very good model of the BIG "Galaxy" in 1/144 scale.Read full review...
