Nearly Unbearably Bad
Was "Repo Men" conceived first as a book or a film? You may think this has little bearing on a review of the movie, but the question is important. IMDb indicates that the "source material" titled "The Repossession Mambo" was published in 2009. It's funny, because that book doesn't seem to exist. Amazon states that they "don't know when or if this item will be back in stock" and no cover art exists. Another book that bears the same title as the movie was re-released -- gasp! -- ten days before the film.
So what's going on here? Simply put, an attempt to snag sci-fi fans with sub-par material across several platforms. And boy does that plan backfire! I can't speak for the book "Repo Men" but the film is downright terrible -- as if someone took bits and pieces of an incomplete novel and stitched them together into a screenplay. The plot of "Repo Men" is rather straight forward, but the universe that has been created to flesh out the story is filled with so much hot air and nonsense jargon that it's a wonder Jude Law and Forest Whitaker can even deliver their lines. All of this is set against some low-tech CGI that looks as if it were lifted from a video game instead of a film production studio.
My advice? Skip "Repo Men" and pick up a far better Jude Law sci-fi thriller like "eXistenZ."

Not my cup of AB -
I gave a higher rating than my actual opinion because it's outside my usual genre. It was similar to Matrix, or Minority Report. Some guy is victim of strange future culture and law. However this work is much bloodier and chunkier than I could enjoy. I found the plot a little too predictable. I won't keep it. I won't watch it again. I watched it once because the subject intrigued me. Someone who enjoys the gore might appreciate the liberated body parts and spatter lots more than I could. To them I would recommend this slaughterfest.Read full review...

A crazy movie that is a rollercoaster.
This was a good movies that I had to buy. This movie is about Repo Men (Jude Law and Forest Whitaker) in the future that repossesses people's organs that fail to make payment. After pulling a job, an accident happens, in which Jude Law has to get a heart transplant and ends up failing to make payments on his heat. As a result, he is on the run from Forest Whitaker. If you want a movie with some crazy plots and twists, get this movie.Read full review...
under the radar
when this movie first came out, I was super excited to go see it even though I'm not a fan of jude law. After this movie I became a Jude Law fan! Everybody bashed this movie saying it copied Repo! The Genetic Opera. That movie sucked. This is better. Its a cool fast paced action sci fi thriller. There's a twist in the end that you definitely don't expect. Great action and story. Not a lot of people have seen it and is not only somewhat under the radar, but also underrated. Give it a chance! It's awesome!Read full review...
Repo Men
This is an excellent movie with excellent futuristic visuals set in an ultra modern metropolis. Based on a credit system, if you have an organ transplant, and have not payed your bill on time, instead of paying a late fee, a repo man is sent to repossess the organ while you are still alive! You either die on the spot, or if you have other means for a quick transplant, you better do it before it's too late! Imagine if that became your future, with black market donors being a refuge for those who can't afford it. This movie is insanely excellent with two men whose job is to rip your insides out for pay!Read full review...

Watch Repo! the Genetic Opera for funnier or Never Let Me Go for theme
A poor man's Repo! The Genetic Opera without the camp, and it so didn't have to be. The actors are excellent, but the material was surprisingly boring for a conceit as interesting as organ repossession. The twist is planted so early it doesn't merit mention, and all I can really compliment it on is using robotic-like organs (Repo! uses more traditional-looking organs) and the neck tattoos.Read full review...
