Best RE film as of now.

Is this the most faithful movie for the video game series?

Unlike the live-action films, yes.

Degeneration is a directly told story of what became of Claire and Leon
after the event of Raccoon City in RE2. While the CGI effects are visually
amazing (though everything seems to have a oddly smooth finish), the movie
does have its minor faults. While it's cool to see the same voice actors for
Leon and Claire take their respective roles in movie, as they did in the game,
the dialogue at times is somewhat, laughably cheesy. However, that's not to
say that the games were any different.

Asides from the cliches in the story, as a fan of the video game series, I
couldn't help, but to be disappointed in the lack of monstrosities. That and
the lack of truly gory chaos. In comparison to the games, the violence seemed
fairly tamed in the movie.

While any general horror fan could appreciate this movie, to me, there is too
many references that not having an extensive knowledge of the RE universe, a
casual viewer could be alienated and confused. This, undeniably, was made for
hardcore fans.

Degeneration is by far, the best RE flick, but still can't trump playing any
of the original games in terms of the experience.

Best Resident Evil Film Yet!

I've played the original Resident Evil game, and only part of 3 and 4. I've seen all the live action movies, and I have to admit, although they play well off of Resident Evil games, they never seemed to quite hit that sweet spot the games did.

So Capcom themselves decided to take a crack at making a movie, and I have to say, this is by far THE best Resident Evil film made. To start with, many of the scenes are gorgeous. The character models are for the most part decent, although not quite as fluid as Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children, but serviceable. Their best CG work is done in the environments of the settings, and really bring alive the environments like was done in the video games.

At first, I was worried that the plot would be sub-par. Unfortunately, other CG game movies sacrificed plot for animation and visuals; however I can honestly say the writing and acting (well, voice overs) are top notch. I will admit, it would be good if you've at least seen any of the previous Resident Evil films or played the games to understand the background to the story (The T-Virus, Umbrella Corp), but either way it is a very well written and highly engaging story that will never bore you.

Simply put, this movie is definitely one of Capcom's best work to date.

Not Evil enough

I was looking forward to seeing this computer animated movie, but I find myself not happy after seeing it. I was under the mistaken impression that this would be a gory tribute to the games, done with the Japanese flair for extreme animation. While the animation is nice, the voice acting is not up to par, I frequently looked at the screen in disbelief at the way the lines were delivered, and what they were saying. I especially was disturbed by the way American soldiers were portrayed, it just seemed too much. No Japanese audio, seems like this was made for the Western market. Gore is really not shown at all, they just show people's faces when they see something gory. I am a fan of the Resident Evil games, but this is a great example of why you should buy movies on eBay. If you don't like what you bought, at least you did not pay a lot for it! Not to mention you can sell it after you see it! Final Verdict: It is an OK movie, just do not expect ultra violence.Read full review...

5 Stars or should I say 5 STARS!

If like Resident evil 1 and it's remake RE2 RE3 RE: CVX then you love this CGI movie. It feels like a Direct Sequel to RE2 RE:CVX and RE4 because Leon S Kennedy and Claire Redfield return in this Zombies action-packed horror movie. The Deadly T-Virus breaks out in airport cursing mayham non-stop zombie rampage. It's up to Claire and Leon to find out who's responsible this time since Umbrella Corp. No longer exist. RESIDENT EVIL:: DEGENERATION , loks more like the game.

RESIDENT EVIL: DEGENERATION is based on the highly successful Resident Evil movies and video games, DEGENERATION is closer to the actual game as opposed the live action films. RE:D is a CG animated movie more liken to the FINAL FANTASY movie several years ago. Very similar to FINAL FANTASY in terms of animation and overall look of the film.I'm a fan of he game and he movies which is one reason I bought this movie. Not entirely high on gore or bad language but does have a lot of gun play and over the top violence. This is not for kids under a certain age unless they are frequent players of the RESIDENT EVIL games and are already used to the monsters and violence. The animation is amazing.Very detailed almost life like but still looks very much like a video game. It's an OK movie for what it is. Best for die-hard RESIDENT EVIL fanatics. ***Read full review...

the zombies are coming

If your a die hard fan of the resident evil games then most who saw the movies were expecting a mansion with jill and chris and the movie to be awesome. but instead we got some lame 10 second clip of the mansion and a lab that wasn't in there and most of resident evil 2. It just got worse from there. But Degeneration although it was never part of the game at least it lives up to the Resident Evil name. Leon and Clair team up in cgi to kick some zombie ass. The cgi is really good, not like i can't tell here not real but better than the games. A fan could watch over and over again. The plot is good, keeps your guessing if your just paying attention to the zombies dieing But overall would make a good game so it makes a great movie. I hope all RE fans are able to watch and hopefully more of these movies to come.Read full review...

Degeneration...a review.

Although I'm not a big fan of CGI movies, at least not in horror, I did like this movie. I'm also a big fan of the character "Alice" who doesn't appear in this Resident Evil movie. Over all I think if you like the game and the movies you'll like this one. I think it also would have been better to have it out before "Extinction", then the viewer would have a better understanding of the character of "Claire Redfield". But as they say...better late than never! Enjoy!Read full review...

A fun time

Although it's no A-list movie, it's a fun little side plot in the Resident Evil story with a fun premise.

Not Bad

Pretty good for a CG animation movie.Nice to see they had Leon S. Kennedy and Claire Redfield from the games in the movie. Also liked that they brought back the T-Virus and G-virus and had regular walking dead like the first 3 games in the series. The dialogue is sometimes something to be desired, and sometimes the animation is pretty stiff looking. But,if you like the games you'll be used to this, and will be entertained. If you are a Resident Evil fan like myself, you should check this out.Read full review...
