If you have a PS3 you need this game!

This game is a well done First Person Shooter (FPS). It pits players against the Chimera an alien species that is, well, trying to kill you and is set back in the 1900's. You are a soilder who was infected and is basically the only person to survive from being infected.

The game has a very dim/bleak look to is and it helps to set the mood very well. Sound is also very nice as there is no crazy techno music that takes away from the mood but rahter quiter orchestra style music.

The AI in this game are failry well done as enemys attack in groups and constanlty dodge your shots by ducking behind things or around corners.

One thing that sets this game apart from others are the weapons, they are very cool. One weapon a rail gun style shoots a large number of bullets in one shot which all richocet off walls and spray everywhere. You can also choose to shoot the entire clip, which floats in mid air, acting like a turret. Another weapon, the bullseys, allows the main character to fire a tracer tag bullet which, once placed, allows for every single shot to be homed in so the player can take cover while shooting as the bullets fly around the corner. There are many other weapons and I belive 5 which are unlocked after beating the game.

Online, 40 players is chaos and is amazingly fun.

This is the BEST launch game for the PS3, now we just have to wait for motorstorm!

Resistance: Fall of Man Review

Resistance: Fall of man is a unique First Person Shooter.

It all started in the 1930's when the Chimera Invaded Russia. The Chimera released a virus, witch started turning the human race into Chimera. It was a very devastating virus to the Human Race.

Soon, Reports of biological testing was leaking out of Russia. The US Thought the Russians had developed a weapon of Mass Destruction. That was far from the truth. The Chimera stayed in Russia for over a decade doing who knows what. Most likely Planning our demise.

The chimera launched a assult that overwhelmed all of Europe in a matter of only weeks. For Several months we thought England was safe from the threat. But in 1950 the chimera burrowed under the channel. They had prepared for them, but in only 3 months time the war was lost. The cities were abonded to the chimera and the men that survived retreated to scattered military bases and outposts. The chimera had one!

On July 11th 1951 the Americans realized the threat and launched a assult on the Eastern Coast of England. On the second wave of that assult there was a sergeant named Nathan Hale. The actions of that ranger have become a matter of both scrutiny and myth. What follows that are the known events of his life from July 11th to July 14th the day he was lost seen!

That is the story.

Then the game starts, you play as Nathan Hale. The game is not like other shooters. This one is very sci-fi like. It has a mix of real life guns, and alien guns. Its a very fun shooter. You can use techniques to lead the enemies to traps you laid with a gun that created a bubble like thing filled with gas. Then as they approach it explodes and kills them. You can also tag them with a laser type thing, take cover and shoot, and the bullets will follow them and hit them nomatter where they go. There are guns that shoot through walls, Guns that bounce off the walls, and even a nice sniper rifle!

The game does have a interesting story line, but it has just as good game play! For a game that was created when the PS3 just came out, its very good. A MUST BUY! Only reason I rated it good, is because I thought the graphics could be better, and the game a little longer.

Resistance 2 is coming out soon. Can't wait to see it. As for this game, I give it 9 out of 10 stars. BUY IT!

Resistance: Fall of Man has good story and gameplay.

I purchased this game from someone on Ebay as a used item recently. I had heard it was a pretty good game, and I purchased it for a decent price. The story progresses at a good pace and is good; not excellent, but good. It is interesting and will keep you wondering more and more. The gameplay is great and the enemies are a decent challenge, and the weapons are really cool. Graphics are good, and I would recommend playing this game. It would be a better deal to buy it used from Ebay, rather than new. A good price would be $30 - $35 price range. If you are a fan of classic first person shooters, this is DEFINITELY FOR YOU. This game is like a Duke Nukem 3D remake with way better graphics and involved gameplay + storyline. The PS3 didn't come short at all on this one! Get it!Read full review...

Resistance: Fall of Man falls short !!

I wanted to buy this game for a long time. I liked the idea of a human vs. alien war in an alternate 20th century reality. I played the "Medium" difficulty setting and found the game not too difficult. The weapon control system in this game is very clumsy and hard to master. I found myself forgetting how to use weapons even towards the end of the game. Switching weapons during battle is tedious and can get you killed easily. The game is very repetitive, and lacks re-playability.
The game also has no main bosses and leaves the most exciting tasks to cut-scenes instead of allowing the player to enjoy completing pivotal moments in the game.
The "Easy" setting in the game was harder because you are given very little if any health re-charges/canisters during game-play. I thought easy meant easier to play not harder. If you win the entire game new weapons become available to you, but it seems a bit pointless because you have to play the game again to get them, and you lose all your existing weapons.
Overall this game was very boring. Hopefully Resistance 2 learned from it's predecessor's mistakes.

Resistance for PS3

Hi I've played the game about 20 times so far, theres not alot of negative things to say about it the single player is really good for a launch Title, the online works very well with massive 32 players online, the voice chat is setup exactly how it should be your given an option to join different voice chats with whomever you want on your team so if someone is being loud and annoying simply switch channels and bam free and clear, the gameplay is great weapons are different which is nice for a change. There is only one thing I can say that is bad and its not the games fault, Its the Playstation controller jeez that thing is aweful, when your using the thumbsticks your thumbs smash together becuase there not far enough apart, I mean come on Playstion you've been using this aweful style since the PSone, time to change it mkay, take some notes from xbox there controllers are made for first person shooters...Read full review...

Awesome product! great value for money!!

I bought this product because I saw a friend playing it and i thought to myself the game looks cool... after purchasing my PS3 recently, I downloaded the demo from the PS3 Network and instantly I got hooked on the game. What I like about this game is the graphics, story line, weapons and the creepy looking creatures that scared the heck outta me in a few of the stages. Don't really dislike anything about the game apart from when those alien scums kill me. LOl!!! well not much of a gamer but i can only compare this game to Kill zone 2 which i recently concluded. This game gives you a variety of enemies to kill in various shapes and forms, whilst in Kill zone 2 your main enemy is the hellghast. Additionally this games reloads weapon rapidly Kill zone 2 doesn't.Read full review...

Resistance: Fall of price of videogames

This game is pretty darn cool. The beginning is kinda slow, but when you get your full life bar and they give you enough ammo, it gets awesome! The controls are intuitive and easy to learn. Total gameplay is probably around 12 to 15 hours; I was sad to see it end because the story has good motivation behind it. The graphics are really good, but the color seems to be on the gray side. The colors in Resistance 2 are beautiful, and the whole game is better and more immersive. However, Resistance: Fall of Man is a terrific game, a must buy if you have a ps 3 and enjoy fps'! It was worth my 30 bucks!Read full review...

Decent shooter game

Resistance Fall of Man.

This game started a little week but got good rather fast.
There are lots of great levels and weapons.
Game play is smooth and you don’t get lost in endless wrong turns.
Strategy is week because stealth maneuvers are not really possible.
Game play does get a little repetitive.
Still there were times when I jumped from a surprise attack.
This game keep me happily entertained for about 40 hours and even though the final level could have been better, At least it was winnable.
Overall as a first person shooter game, I had more fun playing Big Red One but if you like shooter games, this game is well worth playing.

Best PS3 game - a true classic

No one can resist the urge to keep playing Resistance: Fall of Man once the game is started. Chapter after chapter of exhilarating battles against a plethora of creatures that you use a plethora of weapons to defeat (and they'll use them against you too).

To really put the plot of the game in context (if you care about the plot), it's well worth the visit to the official Resistance: Fall of Man web site; there's a ton of story there that I'd bet 90% of the people who start the game are unaware of. For me, the story helped me "get into character" for the game. If you just want to start wasting some nasty beasts, "Get to it, soldier!" Rest assured, the story won't help you beat the enemies or evade the barrage of defenses that will be fired at you by them.

As a relatively new gamer, I'm glad that I played Call of Duty 3 Call of Duty 3 before I cracked open Resistance: Fall of Man. It was good FPS training (set in approximately the same time period) for this much more difficult PS3 title.

Resistance has an M (mature gamers only) rating which miffs me a bit, but then I'm a bit more liberal when it comes to what I think might warp the little minds of kids these days. I've seen this classified as a Horror title, but I think that Sci-fi Action is much more fitting. Resistance deserved a T (teen) rating. My kids and I get hung up all too often on sunny days playing Resistance's Co-op Mode when we should be outside playing ball. And hopefully that alone speaks volumes as to how addictively fun this game is.

Co-op Mode is split screen of course because the game is FPS; it would be nice if some games could give the option of switching to a single screen, third person view for Co-op in order to negate the need for split screen, but that would distinctly change to look, range, feel and some of the weaponry...so I assume that's why it's never offered on Co-op mode.

Multi-player is very cool. Multi-player is not like Co-op where you play the Campaign Mode with a partner. In Multi-player you battle against your friends offline (4 player max/split screen) or online (40 player max/full screen). You get some areas of battle to play in that you encountered in Campaign Mode and some new map schematics.

But Resistance's real challenge is in single player Campaign Mode.

Your weapons are plentiful. You start with a pretty standard machine gun (M5A2) that includes a grenade launcher that will become your best "little friend" in the game. It's very useful on the enemies that you encounter most throughout the game. You also get several mean weapons that you pick up from your fallen comrades and defeated beasts including the enemy's main machine gun (The Bullseye...very handy), grenades, a shotgun, a sniper rifle, a radiation blaster (The Auger), a mine thrower, a rapid fire subsonic bolt dispenser (The Hailstorm) and a rocket launcher.

Grenades are key to survival...use them, but you'll want to keep in mind that you can run out real real fast...so use them pretty much exclusively to take down groups of enemies.

(And five other weapons aside from the ones that I mentioned above are unlocked only after beating/completing the game once on medium difficulty or higher.)

If you missed the countless gamer magazines' synopsises of the creature types and the power of the individual weapons, there are some great gamer help web sites that are worth taking a look at to help you strategize (just click on my profile above and email me if you'd like me to point you in

Resistance: Fall of Man (Playstation 3)

This is a really good game, as a first person shooter it has a wide range of weapons to use during the game, and is quite a challenge, sometimes it gets really hard in some stages but gradually you get used to it and it becomes a piece of cake! I think they could have dome a better job on the graphics.. I believe that it doesn't show the systems full capabilities.. ofcourse it's only the beggining. I bought it because I really like first person shooters.. and as one of the first for the PS3, it was well worth it!Read full review...
