The Last Hurrah

This was the last "Panther" movie that Peter Sellers lived to film, although director Blake Edwards somehow managed three more films from the series. By this point in time, Sellers was very frustrated with this being the only role he could find commercial success in, however, with a co-producer credit, Sellers could not turn down the proven box-office rewards the film would have. The usual cast was brought back in, with Dyan Cannon as a mild love-interest, and a greater role for Bert Kwok as Cato than in the previous films.
If you like these movies, you will like this one, and if you don't, "Revenge" won't convert you over. Perhaps the greatest dissapointment in that Henry Mancini's score isn't to the level of the previous films, as the sountrack was designed for album sales and tried to focus more toward then-current disco themes rather than the hard-driving jazz that Mancini composed so well.
It is still far better than the recent Steve Martin effort, and shows why Sellers was irreplaceable in the role. -BobRead full review...
