Rockville on, Dude!

Confession: I bought this speaker with the belief I would be disappointed with it. I was wrong.
Admission: I didn't expect it would produce anything close to 800w of sound output. I was right.<br>
I'm basing my assessment of the Rockville BPA 15 Active speaker on three criteria; Sound quality, Build quality, and Value (bang for buck):

SOUND QUALITY (and quantity)
What's remarkable with this speaker, is the quality of the sound it produces - clear and bright in the high ranges, respectable and palpable low responses, and everything in between is smooth and rich. I've pumped, classical, jazz, alternative, techno, rock and roll, and hard rock through this thing - It has not disappointed me or, more importantly, audiences, even a little bit. I have some very high-end speakers and, if there's any difference in the reproductive quality coming out of them or this Rockville speaker, I can't hear it. Frankly, this is what's impressed me most about the BPA 15.
When you read the specs for this speaker, you'll see that the "800w" in the product title is its peak rating, with a "program" rating" of 400w and an RMS rating of 200w. Obviously, the 800w rating is only there to catch your eye. The "400w program" rating is pretty subjective - based on the kind of show you're pushing through it. However, I will tell you that the 200w RMS is an accurate measure. (I was expecting a true output closer to 100w RMS - Nice surprise, here!)

BUILD QUALITY
I've only had this speaker for a couple of months, but I've kept it busy. So far, I've racked up close to 70 hours of use, generally operating it between 50-70% of its capacity, and for up to three hours per event. It's shown no signs of fatigue or failure. As for its structural integrity, I see nothing concerning; it has a solid ABS cabinet with a substantial metal grill and overall fit and finish is spot-on. I've gigged it nearly everywhere it's been used, with no issues.

VALUE
The Rockville BPA 15 Active speaker comes with some very nice features like multiple controllable inputs (mic, line, RCA, and mini stereo phono), two-band EQ, SD card and USB inputs with player controls, FM radio, and (what I've found to be extremely handy), Bluetooth. You are not going find a collection of features and function, even close to this price, on any other speaker (even those low-end makes).

BOTTOM LINE
I can't predict whether this speaker will hold up and perform for another year, two years, or five years, but my guess is, with reasonable use and handling, the Rockville BPA 15 will hold it's own with the big boys. If you're operation is on a thin budget, and you know how to properly use and care for audio equipment, I don't think you can go wrong with this speaker. I'm buying three more, as we speak.

Good, but....

I purchased a set of two of these speakers and just recently purchased a single one because one of the other ones just died. simply stopped working. Unfortunately I didn't purchase a warranty. The sound quality of this speaker is amazing and I always get great comments on how great they sound. The reason I purchased another is because of the quality of sound and the price of the Item. I recommend this speaker but always caution that it can die on you. The speaker lasted exactly a year before it stopped working. Read full review...

Lightweight with great sound & features!

Great sound! It came very early. I pulled it out of the box, plugged it in, connected the Bluetooth, and it was booming my house right away! From opening the box to shaking the neighborhood in less than 5 minutes! Highly recommend.Read full review...

Great speakers

My wife is a principal at a elementary school and needed a pa system badly. I purchased her the harbinger 15 sub. She complained that the speaker sound was low. The next year I bought these for far less that I paid for the harbinger. She said " were loud and filled the cafeteria". They played music also and she said they have good bass. I bought three more - 2 for her school and 2 for around the house. I will be selling my harbinger on eBay soon. These are great speaker at a reasonable price. I highly recommend them.Read full review...

Great function as a powered extension to an amp.

New product. Top of the line performance and looks great. Equalizer was efficient and gave the response I needed. I used this as a powered extension of my Telonics amp using the line out feature of the amp. Got all the great effects and didn't have to buy a second amp to get the coverage and volume I needed.Read full review...

Decent bluetooth powered speaker.

It has decent power for what I use it for (wedding ceremonies only) I use my big system for the receptions. It pairs easily with my Bluetooth USB dongle. I would have given it 5 stars except the only drawback to this item is that the power cord is not long enough. If you mount it on a speaker stand and elevate about a foot and a half the power cord does not reach the ground so my power strip is hanging in air.Read full review...

Very good.

I use this for vocal monitoring. It works as good as other high dollar monitors I have.
The only negative thing is Mic input 2 is not Mic level. Its line level which means that input is very low in volume compared to input number 1. Put it behind a Mic mixer and works great. Read full review...

You will not find a better speaker for this price.

I work in a very loud plastic factory and I have this cranked for 12 hrs at a time and it does not disappoint, the sound quality is superb and the bass is excellent. I bought 3 other speakers that I couldn't hear from more than 10 feet away at work, this speaker can be heard from 200+ yards and if you are next to it you would need ear plugs. If you are looking for quality and affordability look no fartherRead full review...

Good quality speaker!

Very good sound and powerful speaker. Good Bluetooth connection and very clear sound. Logo lights up giving a very nice look. Use it for karaoke and the microphone works great. Connected the tv audio to the auxiliary and works very good. I haven't bought the speaker stand yet, but may be a good idea to have the speaker at a good high, rather then leaving it on the floor. The housing is very good made, heavy duty for every day use. I haven't played it at near the max power level ably at about 3/4 because this thing has power. The remote control works ok, you just need to have it pointing straight to the IR sensor otherwise you will have trouble to get it work, maybe due to the quality of the remote. Btw, I bought the same brand microphone, not to sure how's going to work with other brands. I was just a little concerned about the quality and this one works very good for about $20. Overall good speaker I'm very happy with it!Read full review...

Rockville Speaker

Product is okay, I had to have minor repairs several times throughout the first year of having it due to poor soldering connections.
