No "Play All"

At only 20.00 for the complete series of 6 seasons and 136 episodes I felt the price was great. The packaging consist of all 17 disk on single spindle with a cardboard “stopper” to keep them from sliding inside the box. That’s fine, I’m glad to not pay for deluxe packaging, but there is one serious disappointment: no option exist to ‘Play All Episodes” on a single disk. Each episode has to be chosen individually, then when it’s finished, if another is desired the process repeated.

I like to “Play All” and enjoy the marathon. Otherwise, it’s a great bargain. The video quality is quite acceptable and I would make the purchase again.

Sanford and Son- An honest review from a fan...

Who doesn't remember the classic that is 'Sanford and Son'? I remember evenings sitting in the front room with my grandpa watching reruns of this show (as well as The Waltons and Little House on the Prairie).

This set includes all of the episodes exactly as you remembered them. I say 'exactly' because the series looks as it did back then. This series has not been remastered, but rather is a direct transfer from the original tapes. While this was not an issue for me, some fans will cry wolf as their high def sets will pick up every blemish and imperfection from the transfer.

The set is simple, no frills packaging. You are looking at a box with the dvds in a flimsy plastic housing. The DVDS are stacked (no spindle). I would recommend placing the discs in protectors immediately upon receipt. (*Note: I prefer this simple packaging over the cardboard sleeves used by many series sets nowadays. Many a disc has been scratched due to cardboard. Looks nice, but ruins the set).

My only real complaint for the series is no ability to 'Play All'. I had thought that to be standard on all season and series sets. Not the case for this series.

All in all, I love the fact that this classic series is available for fans and collectors everywhere. A must have.Read full review...

Hi y’all! Sanford and son a is a classic and timeless. The series is a truly genuine and wholesome approach 2 this modern world. Bak when I was coming up things wur more ideal 2 teaching and saying guud things that u can relate 2 the LordZzzz about indirectly. It did not have 2 say God or mention religion 4 U 2 make that connection with the LordZzzz. I’m very pleased and I hope my God is pleased with this grand series. Yes I’m like wow! PTL!

Very Funny!

This show was on before my time (I was born in 1982) but I remember my dad always watching the reruns on TV when I was young but didn't really get some of the "Adult" humor at the time but I did remember the show being funny so that's why I bought this and seeing them for what they are is just awesome, I can't get enough of it. Timeless and funny.

I grew up with watching Sanford and Son reruns in the 80s on Superstation WTBS and later on TV Land and now in this completely DVD set. The comedy and the characters are so timeless and still so funny. The fighting and insulting between Fred and Aunt Esther is still funny. I would highly recommend this. A fabulous purchase indeed. Redd Foxx is SANFORD AND the SON is Lamonte. They act as father and son in this funny show where they own a junk yard and are always trying to get money and come up fast and thinking of ways to get rich on the fly, but their get rich quick schemes only end up getting them into more trouble and more in debt. Its funny because they are in constant comical disagreement and argueing with eachother about any and everything imaginable. I think its Sanfords sarcasticness is what makes this show so funny. Like whenever Lamonte threatens to leave the business, Sanford will say he is having a heart attack to make Lamonte change his mind and stay. I believe this show aired for about 4 - 6 years. Perfect Title

Who does not like this classic series of Sanford and Son? The title is perfect as the weekly series featured Sanford and his adult son's life together. Their experiences, arguments, as well as their hilarious, happy and sad moments together are unforgettable and touching to see. It keeps you laughing and wanting more. That is why having the complete series is better than just getting one or more episodes. You will want to keep seeing what is next, from beginning to end. The other characters on the show brings life to the series too, such as Aunt Ester and a host of friends and visiting relatives. Can you imagine the situations the widowed Sanford and his adult single son get themselves into? Their conflicts and jealousies when wanting to date at home? The differences they have with Aunt Ester - the very religious and judgmental one? And that Sanford, has a way with words - and those words can be....well, if you have not seen Sanford and Son, I highly recommend that you do and get the complete series. You won't be disappointed if you want entertainment, laughter and a feel good family comedy. From time to time, episodes of Sanford and Son may come on a special TV presentation; however, having your own complete series guarantees your being able to view this wonderful comedy as often as you like. Great show, poor packaging

Sanford and Son has always been a great show! If you like to laugh hysterically, this one is a great one! But the packaging...total thumbs down. It's just a box with one flimsy plastic holder inside where all the DVDs are stacked on top of each other. Then there's a piece of cardboard that slides over the spindle to hold the DVDs in (keeps them from falling out). Since each episode is short, it would have been very helpful to have a 'play all' option on the menu. I'm keeping it because I love the series, but I'm re-packaging it myself. Read full review...
