Works very well!

I gotta admit, I was very skeptical when I made the purchase. But my grandma needed something to watch her DVD's and VHS tapes. She had a Sony old school back about 20 years ago, that was made in Japan. Unlike these cheesy units made in China, her units finally gave way to the big scrap yard heaven.

The shipment was quick about a week's time. When I opened the package, the unit was light, first thing in my mind was, dang... I tried to hook the unit up to the TV and all I got was sound, no video at all on any of the composite cables or the S-video port. There were no manuals or any tracking feature, that I could locate about the unit online.

After some fiddling with the TV settings and trying different ports on the unit, video appeared. I was surprised... seriously lol. I tried one of her old VHS tapes from 1985, that I knew was in bad condition, there must have been some tracking feature, cause it came out clear as VHS can go. After several tapes, I was very pleased.

I tried the DVD next, I tried DVD-R-+ and even some imports, they work just fine. The remote controller that came with the unit was pretty easy to operate. Heck, if my grandmother at age 81 can use it, anyone can.

I was a little upset at the beginning that I couldn't get the unit up and running, but that was human error. After it started working, it works great, my grandma is happy, so am I. Would absolutely recommend this product.

Works as designed - no complaints

I know the technology is a bit antiquated, but I needed a VHS player to play VHS and VHS-C (to a converter/burner) so I can transfer those old tapes to DVD. This player is easy to use, has all the features I need to play, slo-motion, freeze and output to the external DVD Burner. No complaints. Lightweight with great features and providing the remote and connection wires was a plus!

The quality in terms of both form (appearance) and function (operation) is like new. Connection was very easy utilizing the programmed/battery-filled remote and the necessary audio/video wires, which were provided. It took us only a couple of minutes to set up. To check its condition before leaving feedback, we played first a DVD all through and second a VHS tape all though. Good combo, with manual and remote

I got this for my mom's 76th birthday. It's what she wanted. All functions worked fine. She wanted it to record her shows. It wasn't as clean as I thought it would be, but she didn't seem to care.

VCR and DVD combo.

It Lights up and appears to be OK. I found a universal remote that I programed to get it to turn on and off the product. It came without the remote It also came without the AVE cables so I ordered some cables . I have not received them yet, so I have not been able to use the product yet.

the product is great: its exactly like the one we had: boy, its great to have the VHS back: we have alot of VHS Disney movies and never replaced them with DVD'S cause of the cost. never thought our old Sanyo would die onus, the vhs part. the dvd half still worked.

Watch out

You had better watch out on E-Bay or being an idiot . My VCR broke and I needed it pretty bad to finish to digitize my last several tapes and I din't care for used or old as long as I can finish the job. I never thought people sell non-working broken device on E-Bay as "As is". I learned that seller added "Used DVD-R / VCR combo. Will not power on when plugged, could be an easy fix. Unit was recently bought brand new, but I havent had a chance to use it mainly for the DVD recorder." Also I learned that seller skillfully mislead the peaple to get the notion that device can be fixed easily because it is brand new, in fact device was pretty much used and ugly with dirt and spill. what can you do, VCR was thrown into garbage, it is going to cost more and waste time to hassle with seller and E-Bay, and I bouhgt brand new for $25 from Amazon this unit even have unexpected TV Tuner in it.Read full review...

I bought it because, It's versatility, ease of use, it is most compatible on most equipment , can read easily when playing dvd or vcr. and of a fraction of a price, it don't have to cost a lot in this case to get more out of it! 100% recommended for the person or user that is Practical on things. I did have other brand that I use it cost 3 times more that this....and it is very picky and slow and not read and play at all, so, judge it that way.I own 3 different players on each room and this is the best one and also cheapest price.Read full review...
