great value for your money

lots of reviews online for Seiko's diver's.
the ratings and this review is based on what you get for your money. I also tried to avoid copying other reviews online.

appearance
the watch looks great, not too big or heavy although he's pretty solid. I also bought a bracelet and can't decide how the watch looks better- bracelet or strap? either way it's nice to have the option to change it in no time. big points for versatility.
the dial looks great, simple and easy to read. nice to have day and date but not a must for me. the lumination is amazing!
you can read the time very easily in dark conditions. the change between other models (007 for example) is the square markers(opposed to round markers), I think it improve the watch overall look but it a matter of taste. very important - you can read the time correctly when the watch is not on your hand(the 12 marker is different from the 6 marker.

timing accurately
it does! my watch does it very well, after a week the watch on the same spot compared to other quartz watches. I saw several issues people had with this manner online so:
I guess not all watches 100% the same
it takes time for the watch to get into "the zone"
if you really concerned about it don't go for automatic watch.
the complains I saw online didn't had big gaps(2-10 seconds a day) as well so to set this manner up the Seiko 7s26 21 jewels movement works great.

other features
the bezel look and feel great I hope it will stay that way as well.
the screw-in crown goes in and out with no problem. the crown is pretty big but I like it(pro for look con for comfort ability. it also based in the 4 o'clock position so it won't (or less) stuck in your wrist.

price
I bought my SKX173 for 205$ online
I don't live in the USA so I hadn't had any other possibility and I'm happy with the price.

overall
the look is a pro if you like simple style watches and a cone if you don't.
same for the strap - simple and affective but not too appealing.
nice features, not too many if you're a gadget lover.
solid diver that will last.
automatic movement - big pro for me but- you have to wear the watch or you need to reset it any time it comes on.
great value for your money. 200$ for a solid automatic, life time watch is not big money.
as far as I know - to get this level and features that will last you need to spent at least five times more!

hope this review was helpful have fun with your watch :)

Seiko SKX-173, Seiko's Best 7S26 Diver's Watch

The Seiko SKX 173 is by far the best looking "Core" diver's watch Seiko had in it's 7S26 line-up, far more sophisticated than the Seiko SKX 007 with it's round "blob" indices and wears better than the Monster divers. Too bad they are not in production any longer. The 7S26 caliber is proven and reliable. 7S26s may need calibration by a jeweler to attain its optimum accuracy, but for the price point, they are hard to beat. I just wish 7S26 divers were hackable and had sapphire crystals, the only downsides I have with them.

Best bang for the buck

This is a timeless piece. Simple, stylish, practical, workhorse of a watch. I am very happy I purchased this before they get more expensive and harder to find.

Full circle

I've been collecting watches for 30 years. I've probably purchased a couple hundred watches from cheap Chinese to the pretty high end stuff just because I'm attracted to different watches for different reasons. I've bought four or five seiko mechanical divers over the years and have found them to be the most useful, classic, handsome, readable, and durable watches I've owned. This SKX173 in particular is in my opinion the most pleasing to the eye of all the SKX series. The squared markers give it a touch of sophistication and help make it very readable. The chromed edges on the hands make them readable no matter what reflection is on the crystal. The luminous markers make it readable through the night after your eyes adjust to the dark. I've put my other SKX173 through an incredible amount of abuse in the construction business for maybe 10 years and it's never failed. That had prompted me the get another new shiny one for going out to dinner or events. I pass right by my sea master and submariner to put this very well thought out seiko on. Read full review...

Men's Dive Watch

My husband likes it a lot but urethane strap did not hold up well. It was a good buy and he loves the illuminated dial at night.

Best battle watch ever

This watch is the whole package if you like a traditional diver watch: It will run forever. I have another one that is 25 years old and still keeps time like new. Great classic diver design, 200M water resistance, comfortable and just the right size. Read full review...

Great watch

It runs nicely, I went ahead and modified it with a blue/black bezel and a nice Luminox strap. Now it is my dedicated dive watch. I dont regret this purchase.
